I have an interview with Spirit coming up, but I’ll be taking a serious pay cut from my regional if I accept. Imagine that. And I’m a regional FO, not a captain.

I took a 92% paycut when I came to Spirit. Have been here nearly 5 years and love it. Did you come here just to take a shot, or was there some kind of question involved??

Just trying to decide if it’s worth the pay cut actually. I’m mid-fifties and wondering financially if I should just stay here and upgrade and make more money or leave if given the opportunity.

It wasn’t a cheap-shot, it’s just facts and kind of a warning of what’s going on the regional world. Crazy times.

I know Spirit has much better QOL than any regional, but money for retirement is really important for me now.

I think he was just pointing out what ridiculously low first year pay NK has, especially when you consider training pay and the lack of insurance for new hires. It is the lowest in the majors - by far. If you don’t believe that is a proper fact to point out in a thread on attrition, then you are an idiot. But we are all happy you love it where you are now - I would assume a CA, which is something new hires here won’t see in five years with the current rate of attrition. But you got yours, so what the h€||, right?

I don’t think any regionals contribute 15% to your retirement with no match and you’ll make more here once you hit 2nd year pay. Our healthcare is likely cheaper and better than what you have.

I have also noticed this crazy number on my seniority. Mine has moved nearly 40 spots and I’m not junior.

As of July 31, 37 captains have left. That number likely went up 5-10 in August with a few coming until the end of the year. This doesn’t include the 265 FOs with varying seniority.

considering regional yr 2 CA pay is exceeding $150 per hour at some shops now, and upgrade is available as soon as you hit 1,000 121 time, year 2 could also potentially be a pay cut at Spirit.
