Stop the revolving door

Not really, five months ago we had no upgrades. Its all about the long game. If reducing upgrades a few months makes you leave, then get used to bouncing from job to job.

We are a publicly traded company, management answers to the board and shareholders. They don’t get to decide if this thing “tanks”.
Ted, Bendo and the lot are always a few bad quarters away from updating their resumes themselves. The moment we start parking aircraft they will be the first ones to answer for lack of planning.
Despite all the hyperbole, we are still low single digit attrition. We are still on track to have more pilots at the end of this year than we did at the start. I’ve said it before, if we hit 10% attrition and empty classes with no viable plan from the C-suite, I’ll be the first one to join in with criticism (especially as a shareholder)…. but until then acting like we are currently in some sort of ‘crisis mode’ is disingenuous.

I think you're missing the point. Nobody at Spirit is that fickle that they're jumping ship at a single small captain vacancy; that's reducing the discussion to a myopic perspective. At the macro level, we are seeing notably high levels of attrition (and somehow there's people with their head in the sand denying this when FLICA says otherwise), a really rough peak summer travel season without any indications management has taken substantial measures to fix the issues, and an order book with dozens of new jets inbound with increasing evidence (captain vacancy + FO attrition) that we may not be able to staff the jets properly. So yes, the 10 captain vacancies is alarming, especially if the trend continues.

Nothing, what I’m certain of is that things change. 6 months ago AA had furloughed pilots while NK had pilots getting paid 50 hrs and no furloughs. Things change, slow and steady wins the race. Make the jump to a legacy and great things could happen…. Or not. One thing is for sure, seniority is everything and if the **** hits the fam again, I want lots of numbers under me.

I agree about seniority and having lots of numbers below you. It’s a bit more of a risk taking the leap of faith as a line holding Captain.

AA furloughed????? Where are you getting that information from? They paid 50hrs per month for voluntary leaves just like almost everybody did.

They furloughed, look it up. Everyone is back now.
