Are you being purposely dense or is it just a mistake of birth? I have been perfectly happy for the last 2 years, i am referencing the new company.
What new company? Am I reading this correctly? You are miserable because of a company that doesn’t even exist in the form that you’re afraid will make you miserable?

What a sh*tty way to go through life. See a therapist.

You’re assuming things based on negative assumptions vs facts. If you are going to “chicken little” everything, leave the “for sure” and “most likely” out of it.

Where’s the fun in that? $4 Bill is a lot of Miata’s.

So is an airline having good bases not a consideration you should use?

Don’t strawman the point.

The OP said he came to Spirit because of the base and “cool people to fly with”. So yes, picking an airline based on that is a risky move unless it’s a fortress legacy hub.

Bases in general as a consideration, sure. Sole reason, that’s a risk that can backfire when bases close.

No, I said I came for base and QOL and cool people was a bonus. Starting to rethink that part.

Living in base is a high priority for a huge number of pilots. Not sure why you are pretending its not or shouldn't be.

Scheduling as it is now along with the base reductions are a far cry from what most of us signed up for. I for one didn't sign up to do Allegiant style flying. If I'm wrong about that, the companys lack of communication makes this place a difficult place to invest ones career in. Id say at least half the people I've talked to are either leaving or are looking, myself included.

It's unfortunate, but it's time to go.

Christ, nobody said it shouldn’t be a priority. I live in base, of course it’s better than commuting. But I’m also aware we are all one closure away from being commuters. That’s the job, doesn’t matter if it’s Spirit or another airline, bases close.

Lots of guys leaving Spirit for AA/UAL to keep their Dallas or Chicago home based a strong career long reality. You want that, apply. It’s that simple because bases isn’t something you can negotiate for in a contract. They will come and go.

Can’t blame you at all. I don’t blame anyone for leaving. I’ve been here a long time and it’s a different airline, no doubt, and it will change again when it’s “under new management” with whatever merger we get. Find a better gig, take it and don’t look back. Best of luck
