Spirit Airlines Ch.11

I'm curious, what kind of numbers are we speaking with regard to this metric F#ckton? I only ask because I've only run into 2 guys with cjo's that I know personally. None of the Captains I've flown with have offers or have applied. Many Sr guys have told me they will go down with the ship. Any word when the next attrition data will be posted by the union?

I too have had the opposite experience of the previous poster. I’ve flown with 12 year LCAs who have CJOS and are waiting for their class dates. There is a United Facebook chat for those holding CJOs. He said he bets 250 - 300 of them are spirit folks and most all are captains. So, I bet “metric ****ton” is pretty accurate.

Same here. I've only flown with 1 guy over the past couple of months who have told me they have a CJO (for United). Everybody else has said they're riding it out or can't afford to start over somewhere else, so they've made their decision and are sticking with it.

So just because they haven't told you doesn't mean they don't have an interview or CJO. Last word was that between Jetblue and Spirit there were over 1,000 apps on file with United.

Jumpseated on a Spirit plane recently and when the Captain went out of the cockpit I told the FO we were hiring and he said "don't tell the Captain but I have a CJO with United and I haven't told anybody here about that yet".

I mean...it's part of a good HR person's job to know where their applicants are originating. I would imagine that information is not necessarily top secret, so...

That’s weird behavior. Almost as weird as you spending all your free time on the NK forums. Why would the CA care? Don’t think most guys are being secretive about having a CJO. Also 1,000 apps between B6 and NK is not all that many. I’m surprised it’s not more considering there’s more than 8,000 pilots on the B6/NK seniority lists and half of them are FOs. How do you even verify information like that? Is HR sending out emails stating how many apps they have on file and from which airlines?

Not sure that there's a possibility of this happening at NK, but at FedEx as soon as they catch wind of you having a CJO and intending to resign they escort you off property. No matter how far out that class date might be. It's a really disgusting thing that they started doing the past two years. Pretty wild!

Hopefully the hiring airlines are willing to defer sending a PRIA request until your class date (or has PRD fully eliminated that process yet?).
