In addition to the proabtionary pilot that happened to there were some other unusual circumstances as well. One pilot called mid trip to turn in his two weeks notice with his Fleet Chief and was immediately replaced out in the field and DH'd home. Another pilot commuted in to start a trip, turned in his two weeks notice and was removed from the trip and sent back home.

Fair enough. I wasn’t saying guys don’t have a right to choose whether or not to disclose if they have a CJO. Only that a concern of doing so out of fear of retribution is irrational.

at NK I didn't talk about having a CJO, but definitely not because I was worried about what the company would say/do at all, because they could do nothing.... Just didn't want the cockpit talk be just about the $#!t show that NK is. And I felt bad about leaving after 12 years, at my age, I did like working there. But I was telling every FO I flew with to keep their options open ever since I upgraded, especially the younger ones.
Makes sense. Just seemed like some of the earlier posts by others were implying that guys were being secretive about CJOs out of fear of retribution.

It was 1,000+ applicants within a month of the merger being disapproved from both Spirit and JB.

There's a flip side to this and it's pretty funny.

There was a regional guy way back in the day who gave his notice by diverting to his home town airport, calling in his immediate resignation, and walking off the plane.

IIRC he was leaving aviation for good, and didn't GAS. They raked the FO over the coals, but the CA had claimed he felt some strange prop vibration or something to that effect so they weren't quite able to make anything stick.

It takes the threat of joblessness to put in an app to fly with the likes of you. Hopefully this sector of the industry makes it so we can skip your flight deck.

There has to be more to these stories, or some embellishment somewhere.

My AA PRIA request got sent to FedEx like 2 days after I got my CJO. Fleet CA at FedEx sent me an email asking about it but I just ignored it. Sent my resignation like 2 weeks later then flew two whole trips on the line before the date given on my resignation letter. The only response I got was sorry to see you go and let us know how we can help. I had access to all company systems until the last day.

I’m pretty critical of a lot of things that I experienced at FedEx but this isn’t one of them. They handled my separation perfectly professionally.

there was a FedEx & UPS guys in my Class at UAL. I think it’s pretty common last few years to see this type of movement.
