United is the better company, no discussion. But NK was a great company for the pilots with seniority (last contract wiped out QOL for reserve pilots). Trading single digit captain in base for triple digit bottom FO is a big step, especially at my age. What hurts: the pay cut, but mostly the fact that I know I should have tried to get out as soon as the merger talks started. Told everyone to leave, and everyone listened except me.
January line was 21 legs, 18 crew meals, #jeffreydahmer. And starting February, I wont have to commute for the first time in over 2 decades. |

Yeah, single biggest regret as a senior middle age CA at NK is not leaving sooner. Totally did the same thing with FO's and telling every one to leave, but didn't take my own advice until the Jetblue merger was toast.

You literally took the words, and regret, right out of my mouth. It's hard to make peace with the last three years of complacency but it has to be done. Hopefully every NK guy and gal finds a seat soon. I can't see this ending well.

You haven’t been here long enough to appreciate the fact that many have made the tough decision to leave after 10-12 years and many are still struggling with that decision. |

I think it’s pretty clear that NK’s stated plan to emerge as a stand alone is baffling and unrealistic. That said what are the reasons M&A are unlikely?

Look at this rookie LOL... You need to stay since youre not vested. Go sit down my boy. |
The truth is nobody here knows what the future holds. The only thing that’s going on here is a bunch of guys reassuring themselves that they made the correct decision.

Ive got you pegged as an Eagle pilot whom came to Spirit in 2014ish bypassing his flow bc he didn’t want to wait/FOMO/FEAR. Now you’re going to American 8 years junior to yourself. If you’re not this person, these people do exist! LOLz!

I’ve been through all this at United in the early 2000’s. It sucks. I really hope you guys make it. If not ALPA better step up and take care of you.

Airlines have NEVER survived by cutting theatres, countries, cities, front line employees, or supporting staff. And the only ones that survive bankruptcy get bought or merged in Bankruptcy. But you have to have something to buy to begin with.

Nice try diddy but i got you pegged as one of those wonder influencers from zero to hero talking mad sh1T. As I stated before, Im checked out and voting with my feet. Looks like you still got enough in ya for another fight and i wish you the best. I have been blessed with the same scenario with Teddy. With the current Alpa leadership , concessions , possible merger f9 and the uncertainty are enough for me to bounce even with 15yrs seniorty. Youre like the teenage kid that when puberty kicks full gear just becomes that annoying know it all. |
just a couple of dudes pegging each other in this forum.

Looking forward to seeing the results of unions questionnaire regarding current pilots future plans, CJO's and such; might have to have a pilot retention bonus to keep operating? Surprised by the amount of senior Captains and Check Airman leaving.

Do you guys have a Monthly/daily update to your active roster that you can use to see the real attrition? I don't doubt that it is significant as everything I hear from folks in the know at the big 3 is that most of our classes are having a very high percentage of experienced Spirit folks, but I am trying to figure out if that is exagerated talk or actual big numbers that will ultimately benefit those that don't leave.
Mostly just trying to see if it is a big enough group that has left to start making Spirit change their furlough / downgrade plans significantly? Figure if 100 folks have left in January (which seems total possible with the AA and UA class numbers I have heard) does that make Spirit realize they can't afford to downgrade and furlough as soon enough they could actually be short pilots? Any inside actual info on the size of the seniority list from say last Fall to now would be interesting to hear rather than just "everybody is leaving" |

Water Cannon Salute
Hey I hear other pilots getting water canon salutes for “Retiring” and going to another airline.
anybody know who I can message about getting mine set up before I leave? I guess we’re getting water cannon salutes for making a good decision?? and I hear if you’re under the age of 40, you also get a ticker-tape parade through the terminal with a brass band. |

ALPA absolutely has access to the data. They had been emailing attrition numbers during negotiations quarterly but I don't know if they still are. The furlough and downgrade numbers have an attrition figure assumed into them but I don't know if that figure has been met or exceeded yet.
