The conversation with the consultants went poorly. Too much debt too little interest from potential buyers. They are now evaluating recovery scenarios through liquidation and quicker or slower wind downs of the company.

“Alaska Air Group to acquire Spirit Airlines. This will make AAG a true network airline and now that they have Airbus A321's with Pratt engines, this makes the acquisition of Spirit a no brainer. AAG would get rid of most of Spirit's west coast flying and IT department. It's been tossed around that the 7B in debt is worth it as they'd make a stronger network offering Alaska Air Group loyal passengers more destinations. Look for the merger to be announced next spring with full integration by 2030.”

Just a rumor that’s been floating around.

Spirit is getting rid of most of Spirit's west coast flying lol. They don't need Alaska's help to do that.

This is of course joking/trolling. There are a variety of good reason that this is not happening.
