In the meantime United is adding flights specifically in anticipation of Spirit going under.

Perhaps, but that’s unlikely to be the outcome. Consider that an all-CEO airline focused around the strengths of Spirit’s network - including the sexy FLL gates and Latin American presence, no more exposure to GTF problems, and a leveraged, yet fully controlled fleet of CEO aircraft - suddenly becomes a VERY attractive acquisition target. All of what other airlines want, with none of the extras.”

I’d expect the opposite. Selling all the CEOs for whatever equity is there and being a smaller all NEO fleet.

Will the CEO “equity” even make a dent in the debt? In any case, that does not solve systemic cost problems

There is no equity in the CEO fleet. Every asset they have is incumbered. They have borrowed every last penny they can.

58 airplanes would mean they would be furloughing back to 2013 hires.

Well, said plan allegedly packages the remaining entity for purchase which would keep some pilots employed and (presumably) staple the rest to an eventual good job offer.

That's much rosier than the most likely outcome.

Sadly, shrinking to profitability is probably not the best plan buy maybe all they have to go on right now. Those waiting for the sweet seniority gain with a purchase offer is definitely positive thinking and I hope all of the pilots end up on their feet. With the state of the airline and the lack of funds and assets, my hope is that they survive at all. Wishing the best for all of the employees of Spirit.

nobody wants CEO airbuses. Both united and American are getting rid of all of their 320s next few years. They are worth whatever the recycle yard will pay for them .

That UA and AA don’t want them doesn’t mean that nobody wants them.

The most (only?) successful ULCC (Allegiant) has a business model based largely on using prior-gen, cheap/depreciated airframes on a low-utilization basis (no flying on Tue/Wed/Sat).

The other incumbent ULCC (Frontier) is moving hard in that direction and could use some depreciated Airbii on peak days alongside its NEOs while it parks them on trough days.

And that’s just the domestic market. I have no clue what will come of NK or these airframes but all I’m saying is never say never.

not sure where you get your intro from but American has no plans to get rid of all their CEO Airbus in a few years. They like maybe 3 retirements coming up in the next few years..that’s it.

leave the trolling to me.
