They can merge with open contracts no problem. Xjt an Asa merged when Xjt was in negotiations. All progress was lost and we had to start over on a joint CBA

Open contracts are a liability, especially for a fast growing, stock market favorite, like our company.
Uncertainty diminishes Spirit's market valuation.

The reason the company wants to hurry it up is that the environment is not favourable to them. I.e. They can't say sign this or the company is going bankrupt. Or we can't afford to give you X without concessions in Y. The company would much rather buy us off quickly so that in 5 years the environment will be better for them to give excuses (like we aren't the most profitable Airline in the US, we are not growing, the economy is weak, fuel prices are taking too much money from profits to give pilots a raise. Etc.)as to why they can't give us improvements in all areas with zero concessions! If we can't get this now, we will never be able to as the conditions have never been more favorable to Pilots since deregulation that I can remember. Nothing but across the board gains will be acceptable for my vote.

Didn't see any other threads with the answers so...

Starting to plan my post-AF retirement plans and am looking at Spirit based on the business model and upgrade times. I currently live 15 min south of BWI and wife doesn't want to move anytime soon. As a new hire, how is ACY in terms of trip types/destinations and sitting reserve? Would it be better to commute out of BWI to another base or drive a few hours up to ACY?

While I can't comment on ACY's trips, I don't think you would be on reserve for long there.
Not many post AF guys here, at least not straight from the AF. There's me and one other guy who should be finishing training soon. If you're a retiree with the extra retirement pay, it's really hard to beat this place for QOL. My running the rat race days are over, Spirit is very laid back, the trips varied and easy and the future is bright.

Hopefully someone can chime in about ACY. I live in FLL and this job just can't be beat.

In case any of the Spirit Union elected officials read this forum.

Go talk to some of your ex Eagle members and ask them how well that confidentiality agreement worked for them.

Confidentiality agreements are for suckers. Suckers.

Did everyone hear that we're ordering A330's at the Paris Airshow ? Or was it Farnborough?

Your secret is out Todd, no more need for confidentiality
