With Ram on this one, 15min drive to hotel, for extra curricular activities get a brochure at the lobby plot a tour and buy yourself a cab, train, bus, uber, bicycle etc. for your favorite restaurant, mall, parade, social event, plaza, drinking, etc. no need for the 45-60 minutes van rides.

To be fair I've never had a LGA overnight, but lots if IAH. The woodlands would be just as good if not better than than the galleria. My favorite restraunt in Houston is the Gooses Acre which is in the woodlands no need for an hour drive to the galleria.
Can anyone confirm hotels was a sticking point in contract negotiations? Is it part of our negotiations?

I'm with Ram, Sailor, and Puma on this one. And I do email my reps. I still don't understand why the committee keeps blaming the company for this and then the company tells me that they're 'union approved' hotels:/ DTW and IAH both could use improvement.
I agree as well, I just want a short drive and a clean pillow, the rest I could care less about. I don't care about things to do Im not there to enjoy my layovers. But I don't want any negotiating capital to go to hotels in our contract negotiations.
We already have it in our language, so getting rid of it is a concession. We need to be making the company send us to these hotels to keep in compliance with the contract.
If you have a 30 hour layover somewhere, are you really okay spending it at an airport hotel? That's torture to me, and that's the reason all other major airlines send their pilots to downtown hotels in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia (our hotel is pretty good), etc. Why should we be any different?

i dont care how long the overnight is. 10-15 min van ride max is ideal for me. landing at midnight, riding 45-1hr to a hotel for a 14-15hr overnight is just dumb. i do not go to work to explore or shop. i know plenty of guys that do, but it would be nice to have the option to switch hotels (maybe restrict it to 24-48 hrs prior to that ron). IAH hotel is nice but the drive is just a waste

Denver...that one is on my list too. Not downtown, still a long ride, and jack ****t to do.
All of this ^^^^ just goes to show you is that everyone wants something different in an overnight and that the hotel committee can't please everyone ALL the time!
