Correct, but seniority and longevity are separate issues.
from the contract:
“Longevity” means that period of time commencing on a pilot’s date of hire and continuing while in the active service of the Company except as otherwise provided for in this Agreement.

This, coming on the heels of APA's '7300 floor' defeat in arbitration has really got me confused over the status of a furloughed pilot.

Your in "active service" to the company when it's convient for management! In other words, you DON'T accrue longevity on furlough, you DONT receive a paycheck while on furlough(except for maybe some furlough pay depending on your contract), but somehow all of AA's furloughed pilots who haven't collected a check from AMR for 7+ years are employed by the company! What a load of crap!!!

Don't know what they say now, but there was a precedent set back in 2001 if they screw with you..
I was hired Feb 05, 2001 with Spirit. After 9-11, I was furloughed for the month (basically) of Oct., and got called back.
As far longevity AND pay, it was like I never left. Feb. 05 of 2002, I got my raise. AND it was based on DOH, unlike SOME place, where it starts (pay raise) one year from the date of your ride (which was two months later).

NEGATIVE! My name was on a list sent to the FSDO in DTW (really YIP), and I know at least 8 guys/gal up there.
However, as luck would have it, we are setted in NJ right now. So we'll see, I am trying to work with the PHL, ABE or TEB FSDOs now to see if they have anything coming up.

I'm just upset that I'm not a good enough pilot to be based somewhere as "challenging" as FLL. What can I say, I gave it my best effort at tryouts. I guess I should have "paid my dues".
