Spirit of NKS

I've done a lot of looking into Spirit and everything seems great except I looked at the bid packet for ACY and most of the lines are not commutable. Is it any better in LAS, DFW, or FLL? Since Spirit is flexible and nimble and probably will open and close bases during a career there, I was hoping they would at least make commutable work blocks. Any info on this is appreciated.

Does any airline management really "love" their employee group?

That said, like most every airline, there's trade-offs, and there's seniority. The more seniority you have, the better chance you can get a commutable line. And if you're willing to sacrifice other things, like weekends off, pay, less desirable overnights, days off, etc., then you can choose to bid for commutability.
Many LAS trips are commutable due to the large amount of red-eye's out of LAS going east, and the late night flights to west coast destinations, and FLL has entire lines of red-eye flying (FLL -> 'somewhere in the Caribbean' turns), so those are easily commutable too. DFW, DTW, LAS, and FLL all have some lines that are pretty commutable.
Many of our trips are commutable on one side or the other, but there are not really any incentives for the company to build commutable trips, let alone put all those trips into 1 line, so its pretty rare to get a line with EVERY trip being commutable on both sides.
If RSV coverage is ok, you can easily build yourself a commutable line. Lately, though, RSV coverage has not be ok, so, whatever you get awarded you get stuck with.

That's the reason we have an ACY base. Whoever showed you the ACY bid packet should know this. ACY is our junior base for just that reason, the trips are uncommutable, and ACY itself is uncommutable - nobody flies there but us, the airport doesn't have any lodging nearby it, and taking a train or driving from PHL is expensive.

From 4Q financial conference call:
- 136 flights cancelled due to Sandy.
- 450 new jobs in LAS and DFW.
- Plan to connect better cities already served.
- $1.4M cost of seat program.
- $416M unrestricted cash. No debt.
- Still 9 a/c total coming 2013.
- Plan to purchase a spare engine.
- Pullout of certain markets out of FLL due to lower yields. Chasing higher yields elsewhere. (DFW?)
- About 20 flight cancelled because of winter storm.
- Signed up with Expedia for ticket sales.
