StreetInsider.com - Spirit Airlines, Inc. (SAVE) Tops Q4 EPS by 3c

Even with Sandy we beat Wall Street expectations. Not bad. $416M
unrestricted cash and no debt.
I think that surprise everyone, in a great way. It's crazy how they rake the cash. I was a little skeptical, those two big storms did put a dent on everyone. I just want to see a full qtr full throttle with no disruptions to see what we can turn out. Never the less we did great.

For the sake of not reading 522 pages, can I get a quick run-down of the DTW base?
# Pilots? Commutable? Junior/Senior? Type of flying?
-About 60 FO's

-It's a big airport, I'm sure it's commutable, where would you be flying in from? Check (passrider.com)

-Senior CA, top 15-20 Senior FO's, the rest mid and junior people.

-Type of flying is mixed, but I don't think they do any central and South America stuff, except a they flight to CUN.

As a reference, DFW and ACY are the initial destination for new hires, but they move out as quick as people upgrade and new vacancies come out.

Looks like CEO Ben Baldanza will be on CNBC tomorrow morning at 9 am, CST.
Looks like a great qtr for $SAVE, I'll be real interested to see what he says about forecasts and if anything is different from the report.

This guy from M.Fool has yet to write something positive about Spirit, keeps stating that the company charges $100
per carry on, $100 a check bag, etc. all wrong and misleading. Maybe be he didn't get in when the stick was $16, and now the company isn't good enough. While a overwhelming number of people are positively thinking that this business model works for passengers and investors. I'm sure he probably thinks VX it's a great investment.

Holy hel l, that's a lot of fees...

Spirit Airlines - cheap tickets, cheap flights, discount airfare, cheap hotels, cheap car rentals, cheap travel

$50 for a carry on bag at kiosk check-in?
How often are there arguments at check in or the gate regarding these fees? Do people regularly wear 7 shirts, 6 pair of underwear and 3 pairs of slacks when traveling?

This isn't new. The only people who make a scene at the gate are the ones who didn't read the rules ahead of time. For everyone else who played the game just paid half the price of United, AA, and Delta.

I believe from my studying up on Spirit, it's a method of behavior modification for travelers to keep costs down.

It all makes for great headlines and for people to complain about fees on an airline they probably actually haven't flown on.

Profits don't lie, people may not like the experience of flying Spirit, but it's a proven fact, they love the ticket prices.

I wouldn't even go that far. They may dislike the "fees", but the total cost is less. I will also say after working the past 6.5 years under the umbrella of a Legacy, I was EXTREMELY SURPRISED, in a good way (the whole experience) with Spirit. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the Gate agents were nice, plane was clean, F/As were actually friendly and the boarding process was 10x smoother than what I am used to , where you have every person thinking they are the only passenger and spend 15 minutes standing in the aisle putting their bags in the overhead bin.
