I've done nothing but spend money the last 2 weeks. Sure am glad I have a good paying job with work QoL rules which allows me the time off to spend all that money remodeling my home which this job also paid for. And by paid for, I mean I own it not a bank.

if I remember correctly eastern was once one of the top companies in america to work for.... before lorenzo of course; and I’m not sure but twa probably was a pretty good place as well?

i’ve had several older pilots tell me: “pay can come and go but don’t give up your work rules!” (they are hard if not difficult to get back)

do i think the contract is perfect, NO but show me a place that has a perfect contract...
"pay can come and go but don't give up your work rules!".

If you believe work rules are paramount, why did we focus our negotiations on pay rates?

If work rules are important, why did we not use our strength (the strike) to better our work rules?

We gave up a great work rule nine years ago when we gave away min pay per day and allowed trip averaging. If work rules really meant anything to us, why did we not dump trip averaging and regain minpay per calendar day?

If work rules are important, why did we not use our power to improve our hours of service section so that we protect ourselves from fatiguing backside of the clock pairings?

If work rules are so important, why did we allow 7 landings per duty period?

I could go on.

I don't mean to bash, but we really need to be honest with our rhetoric.

This contract isn't bad, and it isn't good. It certainly is NOT a QOL, or QOWork contract.

Well Merlyn,

You asked what if anything I liked about working here. My answer (which you find unsatisfactory for some reason) was:

1. My job
2. The people I work with
2a. Even Shifty
3. My schedule (I dont have to fly the LAS pinball regional schedule)

What would I like changed?

1. An MEC that doesn't attempt to deceive me.

In addition, I wouldn't mind the following:

2. A little more capitalism on the MEC
3. A little less socialism on the MEC
4. An MEC that stays out of my wallet.

I'm sorry, I cant make it any clearer than that.

As for the "pompous ass" comment, that's about what it sounds like to me when a kid that has been here a couple years tries to tell me "You don't get it."

I think in the last award which is effective for May or June the most junior guy is 4/2/2007 with the initials GG.....and he's ACY if my memory is correct. Seniority list number 349 but we all know those don't mean much. Still quite a few names that probably won't return unless hell freezes over and they never seem to match with FLICA.
