if I remember correctly eastern was once one of the top companies in america to work for.... before lorenzo of course; and I’m not sure but twa probably was a pretty good place as well?

i’ve had several older pilots tell me: “pay can come and go but don’t give up your work rules!” (they are hard if not difficult to get back)

do i think the contract is perfect, NO but show me a place that has a perfect contract...
Oh, and one more thing, El Shiftero, Mr Eastway likes this hobby flying contract now, but what about those of us that are left at year eight of this contract? I sure hope we grow into the relevance that disallows the nmb from authorizing a strike, but the trade off is a decade long contract. If we make it that long.

You must live a charmed life Ram????? (Healthy, top 10% of earning in America, interesting occupation etc.....)

Something tells me if you were at SWA, B6 or... you name the place, the contract wouldn’t be of your liking either.

When you retire, 65 or earlier hopefully things will become perfect for you.

Before you "pull the trigger" hopefully you will be on the negotiating committee and get us a "great contract"... then I can become “you” on APC

I concur with a few of your complaints but... I think, the positive(s) out-weight the negative(s) at NK and the current contract; Just my humble opinion.

For a place that came fairly close to shutting down(at $140+ oil) and at the time, had less than 40 planes, I think the group/union did alright under the circumstances. (once again just my opinion)

I know... the “Law Man’s” contract under JC would have been much better

Nah, I'm not a pref-bid fan with this few AC / Lines / Pairings. Maybe we will be big enough for pref-bid next time - somewhere around 2018-20.

I love you guys, still fighting Herb's shadow.

You know the TA'd sections completed before March 2008 (and subsequently thrown away by the new MEC) were not Herbs work product. I had more to do with them than Herb and I had very little to do with them. Those sections were 99% the brainchild of our Negotiating Committee and it's Chairman. Period.

We could have arrived at a deal with Spirit in early 2007 if we had been willing to accept the same "cost neutral" contract we eventually signed. Herb's only substantial input was in demanding huge increases in pay and QOL/QOWork. Herb prefered to leave office with NO contract, to putting his name on another substandard (in his estimation) contract.

It is what it is, neither Spirit nor SPA ALPA caused the US economy to crash in 2008 and the subsequent situation/bargaining atmosphere was ruled by national economics. We ended up with a contract that is slightly worse (in my informed opinion) that what we could have taken in 2007, but we didn't know that the economy would crash and therefore continued to push for a boom cycle contract. The 2008 MEC got a good deal for a contraction cycle contract.

Can we just drop the snide "Herb's contract" remarks now?

I liked the "Law Man".... he is interesting. Where is he again?

So, we all agree too disagree;-)

Maybe next time around the guys, who do the "grunt work", will get it right for ALL of us.... 2020'ish you are thinking Ram??? :-)

Really? Interesting! Is this the same "deal" that would have included giving away the farm in Scope and Scheduling? Also, what specific data do you have to support your "cost neutral" statement with regard to our current CBA?

They are well deserved.

Oh yea, our QOL is so much better now! Heck, just look at the LAS pairings for next month!!

There are pairings out there with THREE legs followed by a REDEYE on the same night! That's right, report around 1720L Vegas time, fly three legs, then fly a redeye across the country, and get released at 0620L the next morning! Ouch!!

There are numerous other pairings with three legs on a redeye shift! And, the best part? They're all legal!

I thought the intent of improved scheduling language in the new contract was to eliminate this kind of stuff? But hey, think of all the per diem and 'night premium pay' we're gonna rack up!
