Nobody in the media likes Spirit. It's the airline everyone loves to hate. The USA today article for example distorts the truth to make it more interesting/ scandalous/ cruel... Mean ol' Spirit. The $100 dollar fee is only for those that will try to cheat by sneaking their bag on at the gate. And $200, as the article says, who in the heck would try that twice? Nice going USA Today.
SAVE is still doing well though.

Damage is already done, Spirit it's an easy target. But thankfully passengers can still see beyond this (joe the plumber) moment and still fly with us. Same thing for the applicants that are joining our team.

This backlash thing is all B.S... I know a family that sweared they'd never fly Spirit again after flying round trip FLL-ORD about 3 months ago. Well, just found out they did another trip...guess on who? Yeap, SPIRIT... Why I asked? Cheaper fare...

This whole "setting a bad precedent" argument is garbage.
If Spirit had paid the dude his $197 when they found out about the situation, no one else would have known. Not the media, not other customers...NO ONE.
And they would have saved 1,000 times more in (deserved) scathing publicity.
Flashback to 2007:
Keep up the good work, Baldanza.

Spirit
Checked our stock price, load factors, earnings, or growth lately? BB is doing good work. I hope he keeps it up.

Today's analysis on CNBC. Very good analysis about the "$100 carry-on fee."

$197 dollars for a week of national tv and newspaper coverage? Bargain. We will probably get 3 new passengers for every 1 who boycotts Spirit.
