Do quite well, yes. Total contract compliance, no. It is what it is though.

AETNA, but its going away, Friday the 19th we get the run down on the new "Good Luck Health Care"

4_72 hr guarantee. May be Jr Assignment on your day off with your consent. It goes above your guarantee.
(correction after CapScott slap)

5_yes, but also spirit.com under investor relations, you get the qtrly deliveries.

6_Trick qstn. How solid was AA, NWA,AT, UA etc, we were still making money at 120/barrel. Who knows. If you are looking at the next 10-20 years for stability and the SW, FEx, peace of mind, you won't find it here. We don't even know what's gonna happen next year, but the plans are there to grow. I think the great majority of us are gamblers and want NKS to succeed so we don't have to be in your position asking your questions.

About 90% of us want this place to do well, the rest is a toss between the "we are going down mentality" and the "I hope we fail just to prove the losers right"

Best of luck.

And Dilbert it's a cool dude, may be having a bad day. We all do.
Thank you very much. That was very helpful.

I have always had my sights on AA or SW because I badly desire a DFW base. However, SW will probably not hire for a long time due to the leasing of the 717's, and AA, well, we know where they are right now. Now that Spirit has DFW, it is very enticing. The only things I've really got to ponder if I were ever offered a job there is the lower pay compared with other majors/ legacies, and the stability of the company over the life of my career.

By the way, why does everyone refer to Spirit as NKS?

It's our two letter code.....NK. It's stands for Ned's kids, one of our original owners.

BTW, you have been doing this long enough to know not to pick an airline or job because they have a base where you want to live. Bases open and close all the time. Not as much at the majors but its still a bad reason to pick one over another.

2007 hire @ NK- able to hold a line as Capt. in DFW (coming this Dec).
2007 hire @ SW- able to barely hold rsvr as FO in DAL???
2007 hire @ AA.................????????

Pretty sure SW didn't become "SWA" by being the highest paid guppy drivers in the industry? (BTW: good for them and me, on being the highest paid)

Interesting on how an industry can change sooo much in such a little time.

the person here with that name, 'Nedskids', totally thought it was a reference to Wedding Crashers.

I see your point, but it is a very big deal for most people. If I were to go to Delta, which is arguably the best airline to work for at this point, commuting from DFW would be a nightmare. See my point?

But you are right, bases close. The only one I see as permanently rooted in DFW is AA. Unless they close the doors, DFW will always be their stronghold.

•IATA code: NK; ICAO code: NKS
...copy and paste from the APC profile of Spirit.
And Ned is the original owner.

"Total contract compliance" would be a matter of interpretation. SPA ALPA obviously interprets the contract to say what Scott wrote. We all know pilots who are bidding reserve and flying their tails off on their days off, so reality says otherwise. The contract says NO in one place, implies yes in others. And as usual, we fight amongst ourselves while the company wins.

Personally, I think that any pilot who can fly 75 hours and credit 200 should be put on a pedestal for hero worship, BUT he should also be forced to make himself available EVERY holiday so that those of us who like our off time are allowed to drop those days. Because, a credible argument can be made that those who continuously "work the system" are enabling the company to understaff; which prevents me from receiving the scheduling QOL I desire.

In defense of the OT "gamers", I'll say this: most of them that I know WILL work Christmas .................. because open Christmas trips are almost guaranteed to go out at premium plus pay.

?

Hint 1: never let a prospective employer know that they were #3.

Hint 2: stability and growth never go hand in hand. The two are essentially mutually incompatible. Spirit is growing, be ready for instability.

Hint 3: NK pay ain't all that bad!
