I just took a look on Orbitz and Travelocity using dates in April 2010. Some routes are showing A320's in addition to the A319's and A321's. Let's just hope oil stabilizes, the jets materialize, and we grow.

... 2 years ago Ben told the pilot group that next years new captains have not been hired yet...

The point is...stay positive but do not trust in Spirit. Be a good employee, but please take it for what it is worth.

I like my job, however I am content with being a FO for the next 6 years... As fas as growth goes, we have alot of lifers here who will not leave... I heard a story of a capt here who did not take a job offer at Fed Ex because he would have to be an FO again...

I dont know... I just do not know...

I hear there might be a big announcement around July. What is this all about? Any insights?

That was a rather interesting answer, do you know something the rest of us don't or just being sarcastic?

Oh...oh...I know! The announcement will be some promise of major growth in the form of new airplanes, and all they will ask for in return is that the pilot group settle for a concessionary contract that pays us less than any other U.S. Airbus operator. Anyone ever heard that one before?

If they do come out with some announcement like that it will be time for the pilot group to put their money where their mouths are for that strike vote. That is of course unless that new contract of yours comes out by then, or you get released for self help. Either way it should be interesting.

I do not know what their next step will be but I would expect them to let go 10-20 for fall just to stick it to us. They have not missed an opportunity so far to discourage the pilot group. They are doing the hard line style negotiations and it is almost standard procedure to furlough in order to create fear.

But that is what I "think". I have no sources or rumors, etc. I hope this will not be the case.

The "best and brightest" in the industry told investors at a Merrill Lynch conference that a NEAR TERM turnaround in our industry is not likely. Industry forecasts show very weak demand this fall, hence further capacity cuts at several carriers.

If there is any truth to a "big announcement," my sense is that it probably won't be good news, at least for the NEAR TERM. ALL airlines are going to be affected by the weak revenue environment. Yes, it is true that loads are high, but how are the yields?

Not to worry though...Spirit has a business plan...
