I'm not really that surprised, although I was expecting the numbers to be higher than 17 pilots, 8 of which are FO's. If you consider the ratio of pilots to airplanes, we are pretty fat on pilots, in my opinion. With 943 pilots on property (per APC) along with 56 planes, that works out to be about 17 pilots per airplane. Virgin America has 618 pilots to 53 planes which is about 12 pilots per plane. JetBlue, 2691 to 193 is about 14 per plane. SWA, 6,830 to 573 is roughly 12 per plane. So in those examples I can see how they think we are a little fat on pilots. I realize that we have the highest utilization and such but we are still a little fat on crews.

I hope nobody takes the leaves. Spirit will still make a crap load of money either way and I still won't be able to trade trips or get float vacation. It's already red now. What's it gonna be in June? More red? If we are so over staffed, why can't I trade trips or get float vacation. To h e l l with them.

"The company has 55 planes at the moment, but they use those planes more efficiently than the competition, keeping them in the air for 13 hours a day, whereas a Jet Blue only flies its planes for 12 hours a day, and at Southwest that number is less than 11 hours."

I wonder if the arbitrator is going to rule in favor of the pilots, but will delay decision, or implementation until summer rush is over..........

I think it's something minor that NK will use during negotiations, I know it's something we all want fixed, but not worth giving up for transition, days off, or my free bottle of water for that matter.

I kinda like the new videos as well, hopefully people will read and watch the material to educate themselves on our system. I'm pretty sure on one of the last conference calls that Ben said that they do not plan on using TV, sports stadiums, or radio ads to push the product.
