And the section of our contract that he referenced:

13.B.2
"While on voluntary time off without pay, a pilot shall continue to accrue seniority and longevity. Additionally, he shall maintain all benefits available prior to leave."

So what about guys who took a "Voluntary Furlough" last time around?

Furlough and Leave are two different things.

Thumbs up No Furloughs!

Latest message from MA states the company received an adequate number of voluntary leaves and will not furlough any pilots or flight attendants this fall.

THANK GOD!!!!

I am, for the most part optimistic, nut didn't they say something like that last year before they did.

I really hope the rough waters are behind us, and start gearing towards recalls and growth.

speaking of growth, I was sending my resume into spirit a couple years ago when there was supposed to be 30 airbus aircraft on delivery and then it all stopped. I looked on airbus's website recently and it says you guys have 44 a320's on order. When are these suppposed to be delivered and are they all going to be fll and all new growth through latin america and south america? It would be nice to see that DTW base grow again.

All we know is 4 new A320's. 3 in the spring, 1 in the fall of 2010. Also, we are hearing FLL can only handle 5-6 more planes. Rumor is that a base out west is brewing. Stay tuned....

Being optimistic, I believe that NK will not grow as they planned years ago. My humble opinion is that this company makes more money by putting people on furlough than opening new services and expanding its fleet. it is just sad that every year when the slow season arrives they have to ask for voluntary leave etc, instead of looking for an alternate service to compensate that reduced capacy.

My 2 cent opinion.

Keep the hope!!!

I don't think the DTW base will grow again because Wayne County Airport promised cheap gates and then changed their minds and the lease rates skyrocketed. The gates are just too expensive, particularly for a ULCC.

I disagree here. The entire business model is based on growth, for the end plan to be successful. The end plan is to go public, and skate away with a crap ton of money. The first Indigo company to go public will be Wizz no doubt. Honestly they can't just cancel these orders, on top of that EVERY SINGLE AIRLINE that indigo owns has 30+ orders, Wizz has 106, Tiger has 70, Mandala has 30, Spirit has some number like 44 with 7 unknown types. Where would these 40+ AC go?

I see the only way this is shifted is by opening Spirit Jamaica and splitting the orders between the two. Maybe I am optimistic this morning...
