I overheard from one of those cubicles in the FLL crewroom: 20 pilot recalls soon. I didn't hear a date though. Keep your fingers crossed!

???
Just a short topic diversion here:
What are your thoughts of reducing by an hour the 8 hr flight/duty time??? Do you think this will bring furloughed pilots back to line???,of course, if that happends in the near future...
Thank you....

Too much BS at Spirit. That is why I decided to leave after 8 1/2 years for a corporate job 4 miles from my house in OH.
Keep your chin up. I know it's easier said than done.
The crap still going on there gets to me, still and I am not there any more. I know some of the union reps and they are good guys for the most part. 90 % of the crap is from upper mgt.

Spirit MEC Weekly Update: September 7, 2009
1. Negotiations Update #17—Negotiations wrapped up on Thursday, September 3, after four days of talks. We were able to reach Tentative Agreements on Section 6: Moving Expenses and Section 8: Deadheading. ALPA submitted proposals to Spirit’s negotiating team concerning Section 5: Expenses; Section 9: Training Pilots; and Section 11: Training. In addition to these sections, we still have Section 13: Leave of Absence; Section 23: Furlough; and Section 24: Filling of Positions under discussion. Mediated negotiations are set to resume September 28–30 at ALPA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
well at least things are moving forward now.

So they have agreed on Section 3 - Compensation, and Section 12 - hours of Service? It seems they have a bunch more to go. Certainly more than what is above. What am I missing?

I believe..and I am just guessing...that of the sections that they have discussed they are still in talks on those sections. I don't believe that Section 3 has been brought to the table yet. I think that negotiations typically get the non money issues on the table first and work on the money issues later.

Being sec 3 the least important, or this is normal procedures?
By the time we bring sec 3 to the table, the Co. is gonna look back and say:
"we've giving you enough, shut up and go to work",
and
"if you don't like it, grieve it, we've got time!!!"

From my limited understanding... the reason section 3 comes near the end is because the company would say as you say "we've giving you enough, shut up and go to work" IF we worked out a pay scale right away. if we work out all the details of the contract...then say hey look we want this...this is what Southwest, Alaska, JetBLue, etc make....then we make out better. does it work better? I dunno...but this is what I understand to be in the ALPA nego play book.

I keep hearing now that the 2 A320s we are getting will replace existing A319s. This could hold all recalls for early next year. Not sure if it is meant as a move to better our maintenance or simply start to phase off our A319s. Either way, I don't like hearing this.
