If their incentive to give you a fair contract is strictly to keep attrition low, something to think about. If Spirit needed 250 new pilots for 2016, it'd be cheaper for them to hire 2250 pilots and lose 2000 due to attrition than to give you an industry standard contract if training capacity is a non issue, and that number grows further as the total pilot group gets bigger. This is all assuming that the average Spirit is under compensated by $50K a piece.

I doubt attrition will ever be an issue as long as they can acquire more sim time.

Along the same lines, currently hiring 32/month for a yearly of 384.

14 total scheduled aircraft additions to the fleet in 2016 crewed at 16/ airplane for a total of 224 pilots needed.

Hiring a difference of 160 more than needed, or 13/month. I would guess when attrition reaches that level, they'll just buy another sim and hire 500/month.

If the RJ FO lacks a college degree it will still be hard to get to a legacy even with an A320 type rating. It could be a calculated move by mgmt. I know at VX most of our new guys are regional fo's without degrees and around 3,000 TT. Our pay is low and our upgrade will increase to about 10 years so anyone with better quals will leave quick, and they usually do.

Good point about the lack of a four year degree. Spirit hasn't seemed to care about educational achievement for as long as I've been here. They've hired lots of people without four year degrees over the years.

Take a look at some of our "interesting" captains and the time periods they were hired and you'll see where this is all going. Get ready to see some real gems in the right seat moving forward.

I think you would be very surprise how many are in the process of getting the degree online. Seems like a good use of time on these long layovers

[QUOTE=VegassBus;2052241]Well, I guess the silver lining in all of this is anyone hired today won't uograde for at least 5 years.

I agree 5 years+! The guys will upgrade elsewhere not at Spirit! The guys are making an exit!!

Does anyone know if there is a way to update any flight hour information after you have already applied? Also, any tips/study guides on the online assessment?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if you can update your times. As far as the online assessment. You can't really study for it. It's more of a personality test with basic math questions.

So they dropped the mins on the website. Will they still require 300-500(can't remember) turbine pic to go to the job fairs? If you need a job fair to get hired, they can make the mins "no mins". Won't matter. Still need CA time.
