Not sure what you mean? NKS is my first 121 job, but not my first job. Why does everyone assume you have no idea about the workplace if you haven't worked 121 before? Sorry to burst some bubbles, but this has been the easiest job I've ever held.

That being said, the question comes down to whether ZED is part of the compensation package or a perk. If it's part of the compensation package, then I want all the ZED, but will gladly negotiate it away for higher pay, retirement, LTD or something more useful. If it's a perk, well then, it's at the whim of the companies involved.

Depends, last thing in the world I like to do is travel. If it's a European vacation once every few years I'll just buy tickets. Again, being we don't have these agreements we should be compensated elsewhere to make it up but for me (family of 4), I just don't care. I'd rather have better healthcare. I've been doing this (121) for 11 years and never once used them. The thought of air travel on days off is nauseating

I use the international ZED and it's been great.

So does Spirit not have any Zed agreements with the Legacies or other carriers.

Other carriers, yes. Legacies, no. Just lost United, which was our only one.

I buy my kid a full fare ticket +$300 in UM fees. 5 times a year. On 1st year pay. Not having the big 3 sucks.

That sucks. But, my question remains: is ZED part of compensation or a perk? If it's part of compensation I would rather we get something else in its place (higher pay, more retirement, LTD, etc), if it's a perk, well then that's at the whim of the company's involved.

Kinda like the downtown hotels or healthcare, I'd rather get higher pay rates or retirement than stay downtown or have low healthcare deductibles.

Rumor is we'll get United back after they sort themselves out.

Gonna have to disagree with you there, Lobaeux. I respect your posts, don't get me wrong, but what you just said about downtown overnights is just plain ignorant. This being your first 121 gig, you don't know any different. You do not, let me repeat, YOU DO NOT want a 16+ hour overnight at the airport! After dealing with 17, 18, 19+ hour overnights at airport hotels with little to no transportation options to do something (without spending an arm & leg), having downtown overnights must stay in our contract imho. Now, the definition of 'downtown' and the length of overnight required to stay at said hotel, should be open to negotiation. However, if we completely gut our long stay overnight language would be foolish. (Lessons learned from the regionals....)

No, you're totally right, I don't want to get rid of downtown airports or totally gut our overnight language, but there needs to be some sort of flexibility. How? I don't know, but driving the 45 minutes to Addison is a little ridiculous, especially if your delayed. I don't want to spend my time at the airport true, but we can adjust what "downtown" means.

Again, I have to ask: what does first 121 airline mean and why does everyone keep saying that? In regards to hotels, they're scheduled and set up for us here, transportation is set up, this is extremely easy. I've had jobs where I've had to get my own hotel reservations and transportation.

As far as staying at airports, I've done that too and I don't mean in a hotel, I mean at the airport on the ramp or in the back of the plane for 18, 24 or 48 hours at a time.

I think all it means when people refer to your 121 experience is just that, lack of 121 experience. It's not meant to devalue your previous life and career experience. It more refers to frame of reference. Just because you had to arrange hotels or sleep on the plane in a previous life doesn't mean we should be doing that here and I know that's not what you're say. The point is that just because one may think spirit is pretty coush compared to (insert any previous career) does not mean it's as good as it should be or even close to being on par with what a 121 job should be. This is the zenith of the 121 career field and we should treat just like the top of any other career by demanding the absolute best not by settling for something because it's better than an unrelated job we may have once done.
