Spirit of NKS, Part II
#4551
I think as we begin to see the real retirement and recruitment numbers for the legacy carriers, the future of Spirit becomes more and more drab. We've all come around to the idea that we won't have a contract before 2020 but id offer my prediction that Spirit will be bankrupt or at least a shell of its former self ala republic and Great Lakes if we don't have a generous contract by then. I honestly believe our management thinks it's being shrewd by stalling and following typical tactics for negotiations but while Nero fiddles, the pilot recruitment will dry up and burn down the house. I'd say its time to get out and leave management with what they've brought upon themselves. Or maybe optimistically they'll figure this out but that would require critical thinking skills they have shown to not to possess. I have loved my time here and never thought I'd consider leaving but the bait is just to good to not at least try.

If you're not happy here, fine, if you think we need to make more money fine, if you want to leave, fine, but don't try spreading lies like we're going bankrupt or that we'll end up like Republic. That just says you're ignorant and haven't a clue of what you're talking about. I want a new contract too, but it's only been amendable for EIGHT months, 8 frickin' months! Is this your first contract negotiations? I'm starting to get sick and tired off all the whiny boo-hoo, poor me boys on here, man up, grow a pair and quit if your life sucks so bad, the way you guys keep talking, you can make more at McDonalds, WalMart or on unemployment.

While your confidence in our management is inspiring, your lack of long term thinking is not. I'll ask you this: what does our management know about recruitment and compensation that the legacies do not. Check back in a year and see if your confidence is so high.

It's not that I have confidence in management, even though we have a new CEO, no one really knows how he's going to act. But, I'm not talking management, I'm talking the pilots here who do nothing but whine and cry over the difference between hourly pay rates here and hourly pay rates there.

I could predict Spirit purchases every other airline in the US and staples the seniority list of all of them to the bottom of ours, doesn't make it any less ridiculous. If you really think Spirit is going to be bankrupt in the next couple of years, do yourself a favor and email the CP your resignation. Put your money where your mouth is. Everyone loves talking a big game, no one does it.

Here's my point, you guys really want to stick it to management? Quit. Quit and when the CP asks where you're going, you say nowhere, you've got no job lined up. That'll show 'em! Anything less and it's just whining and big talk.

What are you talking about? All we are communicating is without a contract relatively soon, you will guys apply elsewhere and leave. If a lucrative contract is attained, less guys will leave. It's really that simple. I don't think we are trying to "stick it to management"........
