Well, I wasn't going to get personal about it, but since you're curious and quoted my post, I'll explain. My current lanyard use to belong to my dad who passed away. It's my own personal reason for wearing it, however some people may not understand. You're more than welcome to offer me one of those green lanyard but I will politely decline.

I've never had one CA or FO ask me why i'm not wearing the green lanyard, but I would just tell them that, "I have my own personal reasons"

Arm rest should be D-4 area. Who left it at K-9?

This re-enforces my beliefs that pilots are almost impossible to lead. The MEC has asked a very simple thing, to wear this specific lanyard in show of our unity, and yet individuals are not complying for the multitude of reasons listed. I sympathize with your story but I know you can think outside the box and figure out how to make it work. Put your Dads lanyard on the inside of your work shirt, put it on the top of your bag so you see it, whatever. I know you can figure it out.

I hate lanyards. I really hate lime green lanyards.

Everyone should put their personal feelings behind and wear the stupid lanyard. its just temporary. We derive all our power from the group, not the individual. Those who don't wear the lanyard show that they don't understand this concept.

You're just wasting your breath. Guys are in it for themselves, whether it's not working on their days off, wearing the lanyard, pushing hard to get on time stats, or working the job fairs, they really don't care. It's hard to show any unity to management when we're not unified.

Well, let's be honest on what you originally posted. You didn't say "own personal reasons," you said you feel "it accomplishes nothing"

Lonestar is correct. It's sad at this point. Guys can't even wear a lanyard for a multitude of reasons.

absolutely pathetic!

Call it what it is - these pilots that refuse to do such a small show of unity to the pilot group and the leaders who are working for us are either selfish, weak or management sympathizers.

I agree! Lets start with demanding 100% retro pay. That would be a good start.

its a shame how short sighted some of our pilots are. Do we know who volunteered at the last job fair? Im sure its more of the "well I wanted to get my friend a job" excuses.

Look at the standing available list, it's still filled with guys (and gals) who don't care one bit about their off time.

That's actually a pretty good argument. Just like wearing a clip-on tie. Not that you have a higher chance of a ticked off passenger grabbing your tie or lanyard at NK, but I can see the safety concern. Then again, alpa is all about "schedule with safety", if you want to hang yourself with your lanyard, that's your business.

Now for lanyard usage, do I have this right? I wear the cheesy alpa lanyard while I'm on my line, my regular lanyard when I'm flying ot (so as not to be a hypocrite as pointed out here), but what about swaps? How do I get a case like this brought up in front of the lanyard tribunal for an official decision? What is the number for the lanyard police, in case I see a gross lanyard violation?

If you are one of the non-lanyard types, you too will be assimilated, resistance is futile.
