Work rules that some guys here are all too quick to trade for a higher hourly rate.

Work rules that presented as a whole are industry average not great but not poor. I'm not willing to sacrifice anything. I'll take improved work rules and improved compensation (leading)

Alligiant has pretty much zero work rules and far below average pay for the new cycle.

Regional fos will flock just for the pay rates but will be doing just what many hope to do here which is camp out for a time while trying to get out. Even rj fos are savy enough to know that was a bottom feeder contract. But because they aren't looking long term they will most likely choose alligiant over spirit which should give us some leverage but if our management thinks we will sign for anything remotely close to what alligiant just ratified they are seriously delusional.

What works rules are you referring to because as I commute on other airlines, I don't hear five days off between pairings, transition conflict, line bidding, 29/7, trip drops, red/green, pickup in other bases, base bids on a monthly basis, holiday conflicts, training conflicts, 100% DH pay, no junior assignment, pay for cancelled trips, no ad hoc reassignments, instructors on the seniority list, first come first serve open time pickups, etc. sure there are some airlines that have some of these, and there are some airlines that have some things we don't, especially on the pay/retirement side, but no airline has the work rules we have. Once we give that up, once we give up the QOL items in our current contract (I know not everything I mentioned is truly a "work rule" and some QOL items are becaus we are growing), we'll never get them back and no increase in hourly rate is sufficient to cover the loss of these items.

We do have some cherry items but on the whole we average. Red/green is leading, transition is leading. We need real trip and duty rigs, a mid day not a min duty period. I came from line bidding with better vacation drop so that exists. Anyone with line bidding will have transition conflicts and training conflicts it's just a matter of how they get solved. Ours is the best by far but none are hurt financially by bidding into a conflict. We gave away most of our training conflict with the iPad LOA. Easy 1% staffing reduction for the company. Having instructors on the seniority list is a great thing that is being eaten away at by the company and we currently have a grievance for. Our instructors don't bid regular lines which would be huge for fos being able to bid a check airman line and get the entire month off, so we are average there. Having four days off is nice but working six is not. Ask a sw guy how many days off they have between trips due to trip rigs and min days off of 15/16.

Point being we are average as a whole. I also consider scope a work rule and the most important one of all and the codesharing language is industry bottom.

You're right on the scope and code sharing, thank The Baby Jesus that no other airline wants to subject their passengers to our seats. Six days isn't nice either. I really think though that we've got some short sighted guys that are going to see second and third year FO pay go up $20-30 and vote away line bidding, transition conflict, 29/7 and the like. I see no change to min duty period, no duty rig, and no improvement to our work rules just so guys can see their hourly rate is near the legacy airlines CURRENT contract. All I hear is hourly rate, hourly rate, hourly rate over and over again.

Those guys would be idiots because even they should know that fo pay at those longevities needs too go up about $50-$70 just to catch united at dos and that's before that snap yo whatever delta gets.

Scope, LTD, pay, retirement, improved work rules as a whole. Gotta have those for my yes at least.

Just flew with a trip with a DTW F/O. Nice guy but when I asked him why he was wearing the company lanyard He said he wore the green one for a few trips but when he recently was assigned an out of base pairing the captain gave him a earful for wearing it about how it sends the wrong message. Are we seriously kidding? The MEC asked one small show of support for negotiations and unity and we still have pilots that think they know better?
