Better question is can I bypass the regionals altogether and come here with 1500 hrs instead? Would it be worth it?

I apologize I should have worded that better. What I mean is, is that competitive enough (1500-2000TT, 500-800 twin TPIC, all turboprop, all 135, no degree) to get an interview?

As long as you have the ATP minimums you are qualified.

FYI...
The failure rate has probably quadrupled in the last year or so. Be sure you can make it through a shortened AQP course...

If not you will have a pink slip on your record. There have been many careers ruined because they hire to fill not hire because the candidate can make it through training. This group that now hires doesn’t care about your life. They only look to put a body in a seat.... Think long and hard before you jeopardize your career....

What’s the actual failure rate? I can’t believe they’re at ATP mins now. I remember when 1000 PICT wouldn’t even get you looked at.

I’m in class now, started on the 4th of Sept. I think they only do 1 class a month due to limit of instructors they have on hand.

Sounds like every class has at least one. The most I’ve heard was 4 in one month. When they hired guys with 1000 tPIC in the RJ they didn’t have that problem.

Classes seem to be 10-12 candidates a month. Sounds like the plan is to hire 100+ a year for the forseable future. Attrition is about half of what they hire. It’s an expensive process for Sun Country to hire pilots and train in the 737 then let them go to southwest or Delta. Just a stop for most to the big leagues.

What’s the training footprint like ? How long from first day of class to type ride? Long wait for IOE?
