Most classes have been moved from double occupancy to single halfway through ground. My class was not. We were told to pick Houston or St Louis for sim. The draw back with Houston was that it was a Sheraton with nothing really around for food, but everyone was getting single occupancy. Apparently that's changed and now we are doubling up in a hotel room for 2 weeks.

Also the guys that have started to go through the sim portion of training and have been sent to Houston are being taught solely by FSI instructors, and no longer have a Trans States instructor sitting in. This past class had a few people bust their ride who were sent to Houston and only had FSI instructors.

I guess the good news is that most of us who came for the CQF program will be gone fairly quick. A couple of our guys went to the women in aviation while in training and have had bites from new employers.
I was in the 1/5 class. Did sims in HOU with FSI instructors. Everyone passed on the first attempt. Just know the SOP and youll do fine. Great taquerias close to the hotel.

How long is the current wait after Right seat qual until IOE? I'm assuming IOE is done in your assigned base.

Mine was scheduled for right after Loft. Also they try to do IOE in base, but not guaranteed. Also be advised of another gem, if you have IOE in base, you are responsible for getting yourself there and paying for a hotel room if you need one.
Figured we were STL based for training until done with IOE, but that is not the case.

Within a day or two of loft? And how recently did you finish training?

They don't explain to you on Day 1 anymore that you don't have a base until you're done with IOE? This allows the company the flexibility to move crew members between bases while they are in training instead of paying to displace crew members.

As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask someone in mgmt to get a clarification. TSA has one of the best open-door policies around.

Little frustrating that there are guys on here complaining about having to pay for 1 hotel room the night before IOE when the company is footing the bill for your hotel from Day 1 thru completion of the LOFT.

Why would you say that? You think starting IOE two days after loft is enough time to move into base and be ready for work?

Given that the industry standard is to have a company provided hotel room at least until the completion of IOE and that you're still on training pay when you have to pay for your own room, yes, it is frustrating. Please don't defend things like this, they absolutely need to be fixed with the next CBA if the company hopes to staff the growth. I've spoken to several pilots now who would be more willing to make the jump if it weren't for various issues, mostly having to do with the pay during training.

Dude, it's training. Estimated 89 days. Day 1 to completion of IOE. 95% of that is paid for by the company. You can't put together a budget for 3 months? It's one or two $50 crew rate hotel rooms. Good lord.

The most popular line out there. I'd totally leave if it wasn't for this and that. Guys/Gals love to talk. Everyone talks big until it comes time to make the big boy decisions.

Aside from that, I do agree that paying for hotels is standard. Training pay can and should be better. The same can be said for all the other regionals in some way shape or form. It isn't a TSA specific problem. It's an industry wide problem.

Just personal opinion, but I do believe we will make gains in this CBA. Like you said, the company needs to staff the flying. They know that, and any improvements will certainly help that cause.

You honestly think guys that are making around $1,000 a month after taxes until the completion of OE have no right to complain about footing the bill for a couple of nights in a hotel?!?!? Only in this industry would someone consider this acceptable. Guys with your attitude are the reason why we are compensated so badly at the regional level. Trans States should be providing hotels through the completion of OE with 75 hour guarantee and per diem. That should be standard across the board.
