Spliff you do not have them because you did not go to the DAL pilots ALPA site and download them. Go do it. It will give you time to change your vote.

People do not trust their MEC for a lot of reasons, but the fact is that many do not because they are uninformed. I am not talking about Kool-Aid drinking. I am talking about how and why things are the way that they are.
I challenge you and everyone of us that is out there who has a issue with our MEC to get involved on some level. I have gotten involved on a committee. I will probably get involved more. Why, because I believe that you cannot complain about your representation unless you are part of the solution.
All the rambling does is manifest fear. Fear becomes fact in some people's minds and then their history books are rewritten. Being realistic and getting the story and fact from the horses mouth and not his a$$ is the best way to stop this from occurring.

I won't argue with that. You completely grasp the concept.

Oh, and it's aluminum foil.

Well here goes a very constructive discussion right down the drain.

Really? The same "insider" business plan documents that the MEC can't talk about?

Dude, I have been to the DALPA site and ready every last piece of information I have access to. Just because I disagree with the "yes" juggernaut here and haven't followed you off the cliff, does not necessarily mean I haven't done my due diligence.

Ever notice how often those two words collide in the same sentence?

The reason I voted Yes is quite simple. It has nothing to do with growing a pair. Nothing to do with risking a fight now. It all has to do with keeping what we negotiate. The world for unions has changed. We simply have to acknowledge the power of market forces. If our salaries get too far ahead of our competitors, they will begin to eat away at us. That's what happened to UAL and DAL when those salaries got too far ahead of the market. Low-life LCC's jumped into an industry with virtually no barriers to entry and began undercutting. The result - UAL, DAL, NWA, etc had to give up all of their salary gains in bankruptcy court - even to levels below those low-life LCC's.

I would like to keep the gains we obtain this time around. We will do that by getting our pay above everyone else...just not too far above everyone else.

I find it almost comical that the DAL guys (who, by the way, just a few short months ago were harping on us NWA guys to just trust in the DAL MEC to do the right thing and get us the best deal) are now saying they are wrong to be endorsing this. What happened to all of the "our guys are true leaders" and "highest integrity" and "looking out for our interests"? Did you lose faith with them between then and now? Did we just discover some enormous oil reserve that's going to drive the price of oil down to $80 a barrel? Is the recession turning around suddenly and now everone is just looking to travel so they can spend all that extra money they've got? If something's changed, please let us all know. Short of that, you're delusional.

I think the majority of the DAL guys feel that a Yes vote is the correct decision. It's just the "usual suspects" that do not.

Carl, I wish that was it. Fact is that the majority of the people I have talked to are voting or have voted No.
Now lets hope that talk is cheap and people voted with their heads and not their egos.
