Well you can control your brand and image...ONLY if ...

You sell your own TICKETS
Fly your own PLANES
Hire and train your own PEOPLE

Other than that it's just a corporation that so happens to fly airplanes...
Call it Zappos and put a Carebear on the tail...Does it really matter?

Agreed 100%. I came from a regional people don't give a rats ass about the brand thats on the side of their plane. They treat AA, DL, and UA passengers all the same with the same service.

Yep contract regionals need to go...

And when I say that I am not bagging on the people who work their. Simply, the way the business model is set up these folks have absoloutley zero reason to have any loyalty or reason to care. Between pay work rules and every other facet of the contract regional world there is zero incentive to give a crop.

This is a perfect example of "the stink".

Wonder if this will promote further discussion at Willis on RJ metal coming to mainline.

Slapping the United name on a CAL paint job doesn't help us come together is keeps the failed merger wound festering. Most pilots have put it behind them but the FAs haven't even met each other yet. That is going to be a customer service nightmare.

We need to bury this PR disaster, bury the CAL paint job and globe that came from that crook Jeff, clean house of the **** managers we have, clean house on the CSR front, especially in DEN and ORD and get the FAs flying together finally so they can bury the hatchet. Then roll out a NEW corporate image based around Polaris, NEW logo (the globe is fine just not the CAL/Atlas globe), New paint job signage and advertising. The UNITED name is a powerful brand worldwide, as shown by the world reacting to the video. Had this happened on Great Lakes the story most likely wouldn't have made it out of Denver.

In my opinion the United stigma was carried over into the merger because there was nothing NEW to change the image. A well planned and executed rebranding can revive the airline into a world powerhouse and erase the stigma behind the UNITED name.

Oscar and Kirby need to work hard this year to accomplish all thats listed above then on Jan. 1 2018 launch the NEW United brand, and the first plane they need to launch it with is 31U "The New Spirit of United". This should have happened the day we started under a single operating certificate.........
The United name is cursed...Delta cancels 3000 flight; Southwest runs off a runway somewhere; but anything bad that happens to United elicits a schadenfreude coupled with a visceral hate for the brand. It's akin to the Catholic Church or Duke Basketball...people like to watch institutional pillars fail...especially ones they dislike. Didn't your daddy warn you about this? You like to condemn the pilots and other employee groups with their "bad attitudes" but you haven't lived with this negative feedback loop for years and years and years..."Look at me, I'm the new hire Master of Puppets with my shinny new jet, my big paycheck and my thousands of posts telling people the way it should be..."
