You can't realistically run a business based on fear of "twitter justice," which in most cases is comprised of incomplete or completely incorrect facts.
And you are absolutely right, price aversion (combined to a lesser extent with convenience of schedule and network) is the primary factor in the decision-making process.
Hindsight is 20/20 and personally I would have sent the crew late and taken the delay for whatever their assignment was supposed to be. It was a unique situation because the person was onboard already, but the bottom line is he failed to comply

At the end of the day it was the Chicago/O'hare PD that dragged him off right?
What was the gate agent(s)/united personnel supposed to do? Interfere with the PD?
I have to question anyone who condones the removed passengers behavior. Then again we are living in a post Ferguson,MO world.

Unfortunately, because of the success of the digital lynching and social media shaming, a LOT more passengers are going to be openly hostile now against United employees since the press and social media has created an openly hostile and distorted truth to anything that happens here.
I for one have zero tolerance against disruptive passengers and will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of the other people we are flying, which somehow mainstream and social media didn't care one bit about.

If everyone gets off and the passenger refuses now its trespassing. If the passenger tries to get back on without a ticket it is now a security breach.

Slapping the United name on a CAL paint job doesn't help us come together is keeps the failed merger wound festering. Most pilots have put it behind them but the FAs haven't even met each other yet. That is going to be a customer service nightmare.

We need to bury this PR disaster, bury the CAL paint job and globe that came from that crook Jeff, clean house of the **** managers we have, clean house on the CSR front, especially in DEN and ORD and get the FAs flying together finally so they can bury the hatchet. Then roll out a NEW corporate image based around Polaris, NEW logo (the globe is fine just not the CAL/Atlas globe), New paint job signage and advertising. The UNITED name is a powerful brand worldwide, as shown by the world reacting to the video. Had this happened on Great Lakes the story most likely wouldn't have made it out of Denver.
In my opinion the United stigma was carried over into the merger because there was nothing NEW to change the image. A well planned and executed rebranding can revive the airline into a world powerhouse and erase the stigma behind the UNITED name.
Oscar and Kirby need to work hard this year to accomplish all thats listed above then on Jan. 1 2018 launch the NEW United brand, and the first plane they need to launch it with is 31U "The New Spirit of United". This should have happened the day we started under a single operating certificate.........

Agree which is why we need a full rebranding that everyone can get behind and come together over.
