How many airplanes have you flown? I’m somewhere around 75-80 at last count. The 737 is far and away one of the worst handeling, biggest POS I’ve ever had the displeasure of being trapped inside. The only airplane I can remember that actually made me dread going to work, and I’ve got combat time in airplanes that can’t shoot back.

I've got plenty time in the guppy. The stretch is just a longer POS. One doesn't need to have his hands on the controls to understand that artificially high approach speeds are less than ideal when flying a single bogey gear (brakes) into an airport with contaminated, short runways. Hence the sarcastic comment about hazardous duty pay.

I never "cried like a beeyatch" about the PS debacle. But since you broug tit up, what was the grievance ruling? And if it "cost me nothing" why the ruling and why the reward? And while we're at it, what did the LUAL guys tell Smisek when he told us to claw the money back from the LCAL guys? Did you lose a nickel?

Just a footnote: the -900 that slid just off the end of 27R almost 2 years ago at ORD had breaking action reported good with a light headwind. Unfortunately they were the first arrival that morning to explore the the end of the runway past the high speed. It was nil breaking (unreported) in that area and off they went. There was a four wheel drive Jeep that responded to the scene and it was spinning all four. Of course we are all aware of being skeptical when it comes to breaking action reports. Carry on.....

The Guppy now has a short field/contaminated runway supplemental procedure. Never mind that descent rate or momentary gpws fellas. Just adjust and keep'er a coming til 20'agl. You'll be fine. Heck, couple that with the alternate F5 go around and yer almost a full fledged Jumbonaut test pilot.

Go mission!

I agree on the 737 and 767. 75/76 should be a larger premium over the Guppy.
I seem to layover at the same hotels in south America as 787 crews do.

Point is : what does the 787 carry passenger wise? What does the 767-300 carry? pretty friggin similar.

767-300 pilots are getting screwed big time!! Pay for those pilots should be what a 767-400 is paying.

ATC seems to call that aircraft "heavy" in their clearances.

an all night, 11 hour global flight over the mountains and the amazon and through all that crappy weather shouldn't be paying crappy 737 pay! PERIOD DOT End of story. If the NC doesn't get it, fire them! I am sick and tired of this insanity.

It really is a wide body aircraft, doing a wide body mission.

Without going down the negotiating in public road, I agree the plane should pay more. However, I wouldn't hang the NC. First, we were the ones that voted this contract in... twice. Second, there were a lot of moving parts and politics going on during the initial JCBA. Many, myself included, erroneously figured the 763s were going to be gone soon.

A check airman told me we were getting 3 more of the 76-300's from Hawiian. I don't know how to confirm that.

I did communicate with the NC Chair on the issue. I am not sure he gets it.

Management doesn't give a crap about negotiating in public. I think they laugh it off. There are 10 percent who are more militant than others and have no problem discussing their bottom-lines in public. That 10 percent is offset by the 10 percent who don't care and who just pay dues and cooperate/graduate.

I want the NC to be fully aware about the ass-busting we are doing on this aircraft/fleet and the amount of work it takes to make the airplane go from point A to point B and to be fair what we add to the bottom line. I think we are doing a great service to the company and at bargain basement prices.

The entire notion of "the aircraft going away" was illogical to begin with. Why not negotiate an off-the-chart pay rate then? If it's really going away, then negotiate 400/hour..... I never bought into the logic of the aircraft was going away, so we won't take it seriously and negotiate a proper and fair rate for our pilots. To accept that position is naïve.

The 767-300 and 400 do a great mission, do a great job, and perform very well for the company. Time to pay the pilots. Retro-pay is a good idea. If we can negotiate retro longevity, etc, for furloughed pilots, then we have the leverage to treat the pilots who are flying these aircraft fairly and provide proper compensation.

Why does AA and DL have the same pay rate as we do for the 767-300?


Why is the DL pay rate less for the 767-400 than ours?

Probably true, but saying "I'd give up this for that" is bad form.

Look, I've done every kind of flying there is to do here and I find NB flying far and away the hardest. As a matter of fact, NB FO is probably the hardest pilot job at the airline, but we don't pay that way. I'm in agreement the 763 pay is too low and needs to be fixed, but it's been like that for years. If you feel undervalued, change planes.

Tradeoffs are made and ignoring the direction of the fleet/industry is done at one's peril. If you expend capital in one area, it will come out of another.

The difference is you and the other pilots on those planes fly them by choice. I don't bid the 756 specifically because the minimal pay bump isn't worth it for me... that's also a choice.
