He’s on reserve. Its his job to do any flying that comes open. It doesn’t matter why. That’s why its called reserve. On average, the number of hours that reserves get paid for in a month vs the number of hours they actually fly is much greater than lineholders. I am amazed that many pilots don’t just bid reserve in slower months. I just checked Denver Airbus FO and most reserves have flown between 20-50 hours and the month is almost over. Must suck to fly 20 hours and get paid for 73.

I was commenting that guys don’t drop the day of or the day prior. This proves my point. That’s four whole days in open time...plenty of time for a reserve to plan for an APU/assignment...or for it to be offered at premium pay or SRM.
Mil leave screws nobody.
Complaining about mil leave is barking up the wrong tree.

I think you are being a bit defensive man. The entire point of the mil leave thing is pointing out it does get abused by some and that is BS. Not by all but by some. That is not debatable. It is used as a way to get something off you normally wouldn't right? Enough said. Happy New Year everyone!

Are you just trying to have a internet argument? I will say it again. There are those that abuse the system, not all. If you are on legit orders and drilling, then of course that is legit. There is abuse of the system, including having your unit "vouch" for you with fake orders etc. There is one of our own in ORD in trouble for this now. This happens. Once again, not by all, but some. And as a retired mil guy I think it makes others look bad. No more reason to debate it. Enough said.

5-E-7-h On a daily basis, using normal rounding, the Company shall not require more than eighty percent (80%) of the available Reserves to be scheduled for a reserve day.

Always going to be abuse... on standby travel, taxes, calling in sick, using mil leave, etc. If this REALLY concerns one of you then file a Pro Standards complaint against the pilot (with your proof) you believe is trying to say is game the system... whining on this forum isn't going to solve anything but make you look petty.

Funny, I’ve been watching this thread. Some interesting stuff. I’m sure someone would have thought I was gaming it if I dropped some sick starting today. Gaming something to get holiday time off, etc. As of yesterday I have a few newly broken bones. It so happens I’m scheduled off for a bit, so no need to draw from my sick bank.

FAKER! What kind of guy injures himself just to get a holiday off??!! (Obviously I’m kidding). This thread is lame. Some people call in sick when they’re not. Some mil guys abuse the system. Posting about it on here equates to whining, which is a much more serious breach of conduct. Go to work, do your job, stop worrying about others. Management will do their job, or not......but it sure isn’t yours to watch over the other guys.
