Did anyone get a sense how deep the backlog is for training during conference call?

Seemed like they referenced a few Dec hires, but mostly I think Jan-March hires with class sizes in July being "moderate". I did see a few mid-Jan hires with late April class dates.

Hey guys.

I am sure this has been covered at some point so I apologize if it's elsewhere and I just couldn't find it. But I wanted to get a sense of how junior LAX is. I am super stoked about getting a CJO and although I know I won't have a class date for awhile, and that this is all subject to change, I wanted to start doing some expectation management. I don't really care about what I fly or even necessarily getting to Captain ASAP. The goal is just to be LAX-based since that's where I live. I would assume 73 would be the best bet initially if LAX isn't offered during BI? Thanks!

The last vacancy bid w/ FO slots had unfilled 737 FO in LAX. The situation at Boeing takes some of the confidence out of the 737 growth forecasts, but it is probably still the best airframe for movement for the time being.

I know someone who just interviewed last week and was told at the intro they are filling December classes now.

The first few times into ORD will seem like chaos... then one realizes it's a very organized, methodical kind of chaos

When I interviewed in early April, they told us to expect August/September. Is this not the case anymore?

well how many have they hired since you? How big will classes be? Just manage expectations and try not to stress yourself out.

There's a LOT of short term uncertainty about United's staffing needs. Nobody is delivering airplanes on schedule, the regionals finally have captains again. There's the potential for really major short term swings in CJO to class timing.

There's essentially ZERO long term uncertainty about whether current united CJO's are coming to class. It's gotta 110% suck to be waiting ... but this isn't an issue like spirit. Every factor points toward united to continue to need to add people - they have about 50 pilots/month retiring for the next decade - they have to hire.
