Thanks.

On a separate note, has anyone had any experience with Aero Crew's prep services? I hadn't heard of them until this fair came about.

I have an invite and plan on going. However, I just got the Hogan invite from United. I’m wondering if the job fair is needed at this point. Any thoughts?

That is a tough one. On one hand this could be a dry run, practice interview with the same people who do the interviews and on the other hand I would want to concentrate on pulling out all the kinks for the real deal with people who will nitpick like Emerald Coast and Cage. If you have done the job fair game before I would pass on this and work on tightening everything else up. If you haven't gone to any of these it might be good to get one in and it could help you answer the "Why United?" question by using some of the info that they broadcast at these events. Good luck!

If you have a Hogan invite, the job fair isn’t needed. Take the hogan, and pass it, and you’ll get invited to the interview. Take the hogan and don’t pass, and go to job fair, they’ll tell you that you still have to wait a year to be eligible for consideration. So makes no sense in going to job fair since you have an invite. Congrats and good luck.

So I have a question and I’m planning on erring on the side of caution on this but curious what others think (I’m going to ask a recruiter at the event)

As a DLCA I administered the captain check outs at my regional taking the place of the FAA, would that allow a tick in the box of FAA examiner or designated program examiner ? I’m thinking it doesn’t add any more points than being a regular check airman but I’m curious

No, unless you held a DPE COA, or were an APD under your carrier's 121 authority I would not check that box.

This is correct. You are a DLCA (which, as you know, is just an LCA who can perform the initial captain upgrade line check and give two-year line checks to other LCAs), not either of the other two things. There is a difference. Don’t check the box.

United Pilot Expo

Got email from United Pilot Recruitment asking me to RSVP to an email I had never received. I looked all over my spam folder and nothing. Thankfully, aero crew solutions was nice enough to resend the invite. To say that I am happy, is an understatement.

A friend of mine at United told me that this is a 'very big deal', an event that could undoubtedly lead to a job if you play your cards right. I'm curious if the event itself counts as part of an interview, should you get one. For instance, if the job fair goes well and you get the 'real' invite would you still be subject to a full interview considering the HR portion is, to some extent, complete? There has to be a reason for us to have gotten the pre-interview interview, if you will, rather than a direct invite. Perhaps one of the earlier posts was right in that HR may be trying to reduce costs by filtering the top candidates they wish to interview at their own expense. Either way, worth every penny.

I look forward to meeting all of you there.

Is there an acceptable tolerance between logbook and airline apps flight time wise during the logbook review portion of the interview?

I just ask because I'm cleaning up my logbooks and noticing small amounts of time off in most categories...IE ASEL, AMEL, Turbine, PIC,etc.

It isn't a lot but the numbers are definitely not exact. I think the highest amount might be 50 hours off.

I've gone through my logbooks 10x over trying to recover the times but am about the pull my hair out trying to figure this out.

I had a similar issue 3 years ago. My suggestion is:

1. Get LogTen Pro (or your choose of electronic logbook)
2. Transfer your flight times to LTPro (start now, it takes time)
3. In LTPro go to “Print report for AirlineApps”
4. Transfer all the times to the AirlineApps site.
5. Done!

I did this for my current UAL app and all times match perfectly.

Good luck! :-)
