Or junior people in category like me, who used to love the trips the senior pilots dropped, but they haven’t been able to drop, so there’s nothing to seed trading with! Now I’ll be able to get more trip trades.

Anyone with vacation, sick time, FMLA, MIL leave, etc. who wants to trip trade.
Anyone who would like something different from what they were awarded.
Anyone who would like to see a bigger pool of open time trips.
Anyone on reserve who would like line holders to pick up trips so they don't have to.

Pretty much anyone.

Pretty much anyone (except those that made themselves feel good by getting 3 paid days off for not really moving from base to base every other vacancy bid).

Tried to pick up a trip off of another pilots line. He was trying to drop due to family event.
Denied due to 'taking him below 50hrs'.

I would have flown his trip, he would have gotten off, and then (probably) picked something else up later.

The 50hrs limit was (and still is) BS.
I get that an 'employee' is hired to work. Someone dropping down to zero yet still getting company paid benefits is (kinda) outside the intent of the system.
But at the end of the day, this limit hurt us.
Pleasantly surprised and glad that the Union & Company found a solution.

^^^ this was a win for every line holder... but also benefits pilots on reserve who are seagulls.

You must be based in the newly established domicile of Fantasyland.

In the real world, (see just about every base), the pool shows negative for the entire month preventing any trades or drops except for exact day to day ones. Good luck making any of your above statements come true with that fact in mind.

As a PS, this was a QOL issue and should have been sent out to the rank and file for ratifiction.

The pool display is one thing but the criteria trades allow you to wait until someone picks up on that one day you need off for your trade to go through. Our system is very unforgiving of trying to drop an entire 4 day but a 4 day for a 2 day or 1 day is very possible. This 50 hr window was pushed by someone that didn't understand the impact or the diversity in our pilots trading needs.

You apparently do not know how TTWOF works.

This was a huge get for everyone. I tried to pick up some time this month but was unable for the specific example shown above. A guy tried to drop his 3 day trip but couldn’t because it would put him below 50 since he successfully dropped another trip.

So neither of us got what we wanted due to the floor. It had 0 to do with how many reserves were available. That’s what makes this so huge. Pilots can trade around regardless of the BS limits the company puts on how many reserves are needed each day.

Sorry but you’re off in left field if you think this should be a MR thing. We’d NEVER get anywhere if every gain had to be MR’d.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies.

This was a LOA, not a TA.....so no. Not required to go out for ratification.

The test (from MEC policy manual) is:

Does TA substantially affect wages, working conditions?
By that test, it doesn't appear that the LOA meets the requirement either. But, carry on.
