Sometimes listening to you blabber on here I believe it would be safer and more efficient if you called it quits. Do you fly with a lot of reserves? Ever think if you run into a lot of problems with a lot of people, maybe THEY aren’t the issue?
There are plenty of times it’s just fine to single engine taxi. If you don’t want to SE taxi so be it, but don’t belittle the guys that do it safely every single flight they can because you honestly think that tiny little bit is really affecting contract negotiations. MILLIONS or more were just blown on this new rebranding. Management really doesn’t care IMO. But having that extra fuel on tight flights IS safer.

10 years to go and you’re stuck with my blabbering. Not belittling at all. I choose not to, you choose to do so. You’re call if you’re the Captain. If your just an F/O then shut your pie-hole.

As a PS, almost every single F/O I fly with thanks me for not taxiing around on a single engine. Go figure.

Cal was bad. TThey didn’t send a message to management or rally the troops. They made the extreme fringe feel better about themselves while others chuckled. It’s not about tucking one’s tail, it’s about letting your paid representatives do their job. Protest like wristbands, wearing your wings upside down, hat switches, etc. don’t get any results and serve little purpose.
All groundswell movements take a bit of time to catch on.
Our paid representatives are simply reimbursed. They aren't compensated. They aren't nececarily any smarter than you. Our paid reps if you wish to call them that are line pilots we elect to do our bidding. How many reps did we recall at IACP and ALPA at CAL?
We couldn't even spell union for a while. No sense in blindly trusting what hasn't worked. the FUPM movement was three fold: Motivate the union to get off its arse. Inspire the pilots to direct union initiatives. Highlight to management and the public that we are way beyond due.
I wasn't in the FUPM movement, but I agree with the intent.
To many FU isn't disrespectful, it's just business. PM isn't disrespectful, it's just business.
Larry Kellner and Smizeck should have had FUPM billboards outside their office windows.
I put my underwear on backwards and wear inverted rally cap when coming from behind in a baseball game. It's my secret weapon. Call it PSYOPS, or whatever.
having a bracelet is not unlike a tie tac. It demonstrates unity. It's an outward demonstration that galvanizes and unites. No problem for me. I see the wisdom in it. We tied yellow ribbons around trees during the Iranian hostage crisis. Didn't help them get home any sooner, but was unifying around and about a common enemy and a common cause none the less.

I think that was on the way. No, they didn't rally all the troops. Why? Because the union didn't buy in. Remember, the union is an inverted pyramid with the leadership at the bottom and the membership on top.

Oh, but it was OK when they took the effin' high road as they lied to us, played us against the other employee groups to pressure us, used the courts to bamboozle us, cheat us, steal from us and then turn right back around and sue us?
Fed Up.
Fed Up.

But, here's my take. I see allot of professional lawyers, contractors, engineers, etc, using their channels to get treated professionally.
Our channels are closed. If the company choses to "run the act" (RLA), we get the Heisman stiff arm. I've seen tables and desks flipped over by so-called "professionals" during heated arguments and disagreements. There were many FU's exchanged.
Making of sausage is ugly. Making it in public is even uglier. In board rooms and back alleys "pleasantries" are exchanged. If you pay attention, you can sometimes look at the non verbal body language to see which exchanges are effective.
The FU part of it was a blatant and public sign of distrust and disrespect. It was meant to publicly call out management for their deliberate disregard for their front line pilots who are in charge of safety, schedule integrity, and for driving results.
Was it disrespectful? yes. But it was deserved. Patience had been expired. When tactic 1 fails, time for tactic 2, and so on. It is what it is, and it may come to that.

If a guy can’t even start an engine while taxing or taxi on one engine I’d hate to be on his plane if he had to run an abnormal checklist. Pretty basic stuff here.... your job remember is to be Safe and Efficient, do you also fly around at CI 120 wasting fuel because it’s unsafe to be heads down in the FMC for 30 seconds to change the cost index??? Give me a break....

Guess we can count on you to save the company next time they claim it needs doing. Carry on Sir !!
