Uax go away ? Wishful thinking.
According to the article I read United signed a new 10 edeal with xjt to operate the 145s.
So you have 10 more years of the wurst passenger plane ever built .
Maint delays and cx will only get worse as these old tired things near their end .
United is in love with the rj and they would bring on 150 more if they could .
This passion they have for the rj will eventually catch up to them and bite them in the rear.
I hate to say it but the mgmt at United isn’t forward thinking at all .

This seems to be in line with what Kirby has been saying about our Express network(dwindling the high number of carriers down to a handful that are more reliable and controllable). I see a merger of Commutair and ExpressJet at some point and continued phase out of Republic bringing our number of UE carriers to around 4 before settling in at two or three longer term (one owned and one or possibly two independent). I kinda threw up in my mouth a little hearing that SkyWest was the beneficiary of XJT’s 25 ERJ-175s. XJT did a great job bringing this fleet online. I hope the best for the pilots of both Trans States and ExpressJet.

There’s a double secret section in the UPA that unlocks additional 76 seat rjs.

When you launch yourself in a steam powered home built rocket to prove the earth is flat, you have given up your rights to have your death treated with dignity.....

I see that as a good thing. As much disdain as most of us feel towards our Express operation, having less carriers is better. United Express is a necessity and 50 seat jets still have a place. The ERJ-145 is by far the better of the two 50 seat products and a refurbishment of these aircraft is a good thing for our passengers. We need a total of three large, healthy Express carriers to feed our hubs and, through Aviate, develop a large percentage of our new pilots here at United going forward. Less regional carriers is better in the long run for the regional pilot profession (those who end up making a career at the regional level for various reasons). Just my .02

That will bring the total CRJ-550 fleet up to 99. I'd mentioned late last year on the Fleet Discussion thread that there were potentially 100-130 CRJ-700s out there that we could get our hands on. Skywest alone had nearly 100 of those -700s that I'd counted. Now management has found a way to start getting at some of them. Because the 700s are newer frames than CRJ-200s, the death of the 50 seater is still some ways off.
