UAL Stopping hiring?

And you really don’t think they can write checks for all of the above without supporting this scheme?
The few years I went to WIA it was 97% dudes.
OBAP was 97% white dudes.
Never been to NGPA, but I think you can figure out where this is going...
What is the point and benefit of these groups when a MASSIVE amount of attendees are not the demographic of said organization and They are simply there to attend one day and that’s it? Most leave and don't contribute until the next year, when they are again forced to join the organization in order to purchase a ticket. There had to be a better way.
Im glad they are doing things in house and inviting the folks they are, basically, wanting to interview ahead of time. And your also inviting the folks you know want to be there. They aren’t at your event also talking to the competition.
Spending $200+ multiple times a year for years on end just to be told “Keep doing what your doing” and seeing no results isn’t the best way.
Again, it’s great they are supporting the things you listed above, but they can also support them without participating, directly, with these job fairs at the same time.

My guess is if people start to panic when they see infection domestically, loads will drop. Only then will something change. It doesn't make sense to reduce capacity before people are scared. Think back to 9/11, people were terrified AFTER the attack, before they didn't think twice about getting onto a airplane.

From pilot hiring. Officially delaying bringing on new classes. Last update was Spring/ Summer. This reads summer and beyond.
“Thank you for your patience as we continue to communicate to you regarding upcoming class dates at United Airlines.
While we currently do not have confirmed class dates past March 3, we do anticipate regular classes going into summer and beyond. We are committed to keep you as informed as possible as we know you are eager to join the best airline with an extraordinary employee culture, global route network and fleet structure second to none.
As an airline flying the world with an expanding fleet structure, we have worked hard over the years to ensure we are prepared to withstand challenges such as the coronavirus and 737 MAX issues. Our widebody aircraft are being redeployed as we increase hub-to-hub and trans-con service to locations such like LAS, CUN, PHX and TPA. Additionally, for more than 93 years, the safety of our customers and employees at United has come first, which is why we are cooperating fully with the FAA’s independent review of the MAX aircraft. We will not put our customers and employees on the 737 MAX until regulators make their own independent assessment that it is safe to do so.
While you await a class date, we would like to share some information with you which continues to highlight United is the place to be!
We recently opened the newest extension to the Western Hemisphere’s largest flight training center, holding 8 sim bays, all of which will be occupied by April of this year. This will total 40 full motion sims with more planned in the future.
United continues to lead the charge with the most comprehensive global route network, including world-class international gateways with non-stop or one-stop service from virtually anywhere in the United States.
We have optimal hub locations, including hubs in the four largest cities in the United States. Additionally, we operate a fleet of 807 aircraft, with many of our aircraft being the most fuel-efficient among US carriers.
We were recently recognized as a Top 50 Workplace for 2019, placing United among the best and most innovative Fortune 500 when it comes to corporate culture and employee engagement.
We recently signed a purchase agreement to become the only major US carrier to own a flight training academy and announced an exciting pathway program to United Airlines called Aviate.
In 2019:
United set a new company record for most mainline departures, with nearly 800,000 departures.
We are number one in on-time departures at all hubs with direct competitors.
We launched 11 new international routes including direct flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to Cape Town, South Africa; Prague, Czech Republic and Naples, Italy.
We truly look forward to welcoming your family to ours. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact yadda, yadda, yadda.”

I would think it would be a much better investment to find objective methods of recruitment and initiatives to improve the customer experience, but what do I know? I’m paid to play with flaps.
