According to several insurance related articles I have read, a definitive consensus on if this qualifies as an act of God has not been established. There are actually more arguments that is does not constitute an act of God than there are that it does. There is a strong enough case against it that our union better be getting ready to fight the hell out of it.

You might want to talk to someone who was furloughed after 9/11. Like me. We had a no furlough clause in our contract. The union dropped its grievance before there was a hearing.
Like I've stated in another post - UALALPA has a history in the last two decades of pulling up the ladder because the senior guys got theirs.

So the question to ask is: how does the top of the seniority list benefit from ensuring furlough pay?
Unfortunately, you should always ask how the top of the seniority list benefits...

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned with the cost and timeline of the wave of displacement training is that TK is currently closed and scheduled to reopen the first or second week of April. Something hard to forecast is how consistently they can keep that building open and running over the summer. Someone passing through then testing positive could easily shut it down again. That would represent huge cost and volume hurdles if they need to use any off campus sim time.

Im sure they’ll ask for one if need be. Just pointing out it’s one more potential hurdle. Not to mention the wrench 14 day quarantines may inflict on training timelines.

I like this optimism! I’m an early 2015 hire that feels like I’ve got a 80% chance of hitting the road come October. I also have 1999 hire friends thinking they are going to possibly be on the street as well. It’s nice to see guys junior to me worrying about ending up as an A320 FO when the dust settles.

Exactly, then you have to ask if the company has carte blanche...what else in the contract will they disregard?

Since I'm in the target demographic for pretty much any furlough (14 months on) and trying to think proactively...
If a person quits before a furlough action, do they lose their seniority number? If they keep it, I would assume they aren't allowed back in until all furloughs are offered rehire classes, first?

I'd hate to turn down a job offer in the interim just to be out on my behind on Oct 1.

You should be able to get a COLA. Secure the job first and then bring it to the CPO. Walt would of hooked you up. James would say he had your back, Bro...and then disappoint you. Not sure how the new lady is.

You’re asking if you lose your seniority number if you quit?
