there is a big difference. You will not find SOP in the FOM. If I gave a new hire an FOM and a systems manual and said read both from front to back and In 1 week you will have a checkride, they will fail in epic fashion. Why? Because the FOM doesn’t tell you how to fly and airplane.

And yet this is still a total waste of time. All UAL pilots know how we operate (& 'fly' since you've carved out the distinction for some reason), but I still haven't figured out why its the subject of discussion? Is it some kind of analogy gone awry???

Apparently the LOA has been published on the ALPA MEC site. Let's continue discussing the difference between flying and operating on the new Early Out LOA thread 🙂

because why not? Someone said that the FOM is controlling when it comes to procedure and someone else said that the FAA tells the airlines how to fly so everyone does it the same.

its simply not correct.

the last 30 pages of this thread have been a total waste of time.....I’m just glad we are having a new conversation that has nothing to do with furloughs

In other news, the ALPA app and the website have the voluntary options out...

OK, tell me where it specifies the exact point where you extend your landing gear.
Tell me that every airline has the exact same checklists and callouts on same equipment.
Because that's the granularity you're looking for with Covid.

"Don't Tread On Me" seems to be his theme ... Just a guess.

Furlough “plus”

can someone shed light on how this mitigates furloughs? I haven’t slept at a holiday inn in a while but to me this appears to have the opposite effect.
you can’t bypass recall, retain currency.

it doesn’t - faster road to recovery for the company in exchange for health benefits at active rates.

no furlough mitigation.
