That's more of that I'm feeling, too.

SSC May update = 11784 active pilots

Carlson’s displacement chart = 7779 active pilots

Difference equals 4005 furloughs mitigated by 340 retirements through May 2021.

The current bid that is out shows 11661 active pilots including 51 retirements through 7/31. There are another 320 retirements through next summer. If they want us at 7779 to start the summer 2021 schedule, that is a reduction of 3882 active pilots, minus the additional 320 retirements comes to a 3562 pilot reduction. Of course, that doesn’t take into account any voluntary furloughs or any other leaves offered.

Jet Blast,

I believe the total pilot reduction in the calculations you listed above is missing the word active.

In the process of reducing active pilots, they will also furlough all the inactive pilots that are junior to the most senior active pilot remaining. There are probably around 200 pilots that are flight instructors, FM's, on Military orders or out on LTD that would also get notices IF that was the total active pilot reduction.

Hope this whole thing turns around much faster than they think it will.

With that number off 7779 active pilots am I correct in seeing the hire date for LUAL all the way back to Spring/Summer 2000 as a possibility? Understanding the exercise is an unknown unknown but still it is disconcerting. Understandable with the country's economic conditions though with so many out of work.

Insler said in his video last month to arrive at the 30% they take 30% off the active list, and subtract that from the larger total list. So that’s just shy of 3500.

I don't think they can cut 30% and plan to fly 70% of summer 2019.
Last summer VDO and Sr man pay was insane. Hopefully if pilots are on the street folks won't be so inclined to help out.

The same 95% who voted for the Furlough Fund? Or is that just the 95% of the 70% who actually voted? I’ll just assume the other 30% won’t deviate from their status quo.

I’m not poking the bear, as I’ve totally accepted my fate with this company.....but to say that 95% are altruistic and will always do the right thing even when nobody is looking? Human beings don’t work that way.
