The latest is 1700+ have applied. The window closes 19 July. Later, after separation dates are awarded and announced they'll have a 15-day revocation period. It'll be interesting to see the percentage of applicants who actually go.

The difference between Delta numbers and UAL numbers will be the quality of the deal.

Not expecting too much as has been said before. The company doesn’t want it.

The secret to the DAL EO program is that 7900 pilots are eligible. If our program only allows age 62+ to be eligible, I bet that we only get 600-700 that'll take it. But if we open it up to the kind of eligibility requirements that Delta has, I would guess that 1500 would probably take it. Delta's EO was targeted towards the North guys that have a frozen pension, from what I've been told.

Year 6 NB CA pay: 76 hours x $269 x 12 months = $245,328. I averaged 10 days of flying a month... throw in the 55k in my 401k...

The exact same deal at United would have less takers because of age demographics. Nothing else. Delta and American just have more pilots that are in the old age groups eligible to take. Also, pilots at Delta and American are mostly just guppy and airbus captains, so a lot of guys flying 777 and 787 Captain with a sweet lifestyle aren’t as likely to take it.

Gotta be an !diot not to take it. Getting in the vicinity of $20,000 to stay at home and not do squat for the next three years. Name a job in America right now that will give you that amount to relax at home? And if rumors are true, you’ll also get 40% of your sick time. Now what will be the pay difference if someone elected not to take it, lose their medical for the next three years until retirement, I’m sure the money would be a lot less at the end.

At dal its likely the loss of ones medical would be substantially more money than the severance.

After 3 months of sick time is burned next 12 months would be at full pay. Then drop to 50% of highest 12 in last 36months. Pre covid W2s were likely 1.5 or more of normal with profit sharing and premium pay.

Plus 401k that doubles from 16% to 32%. My LTD number is easily double the severance payout

You didn't fly with me. Starting around 2017, I told everyone I flew with that this was the best of times and it wouldn't last. It never does.

You make hay while the sun shines and make sure you save a lot for a rainy day. Because in this business, one thing you can count on is some patches of severe turbulence during your career. Aesop's Grasshopper and the Ant's been around for a long time and still holds true today. Aesop's version wasn't too kind to the grasshopper.
