Um yea, hopefully this shows you how crazy a stance that is. Many here have served and risked their lives to prevent Marxist BS social engineering like that from creeping into this country from failed experiments elsewhere. This SHOULD be a meritocracy, if anything let’s do absolutely everything to get everyone to the same “starting line” as opposed to “sculpting” the end result. That is the “tougher right” way of getting to your end goal, but a much more American way of getting there!

Im very libertarian/capitalistic by nature in how I was raised. So I’m still a little confused by why that made you so upset. I was saying that doing stuff like this today will lead to a future where everyone will be looked at on merit not quota.

I told you I share your goal, but the better (and more acceptable way of getting there) is to pour all your efforts into expanding equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome (quotas) which in the end will cause even more racism and perceived injustices.

Do you want the best pilots flying your plane or operating on your brain (black, white or brown) or would you feel more comfortable in a system where quotas dictate who is in front? I’d like the best regardless of race! So let’s focus the efforts on bringing opportunities and support to potential minority populations not to guarantee slots based on race (that’s the easier, cheaper, and most destructive to a merit based society).... How about we get to your end goal the right way (although it might take more money and effort)?

This is a very interesting point you're bringing up.

As I mentioned in my previous post, by default, any pilot I fly with today is a rockstar who has more than earned his/her way to the left seat at my airline. I recently flew with a captain who started out in the Navy as a Tomcat RIO. He wanted to fly, but none of his RIO time would count towards anything. While still in the Navy, he'd fly on the side and instructed. He was building hours so he could pursue a civilian flying career after the Navy. He ended up at Skywest, retired from the Navy, upgraded, built his TPIC time, got hired at Southwest. He was one of the nicest people I've flown with and very humble and down to earth despite his achievements. Does it really matter that he's African-American?

15-20 years from now, using your example, are we gonna be looking at people like this outstanding captain I mentioned above, and instead of presuming they're rockstars, will we presume that they are 'quota hires'? That's what this woke virtue signaling is doing to them. It's not promoting them - it's assuming they're incapable of great things on their own merits, only to make these woke idiots feel good about themselves.
