It sounds like United ALPA is going to start working with the pilots who have declined the vaccination after or just prior to the deadlines assuming they will file for their rightful exemptions. With such a small group of individuals they’ll be able to move them to domestic flights. The company cannot afford a 10 to 5% reduction in pilot staffing. There are unfilled 777 seats and a need to maintain/grow the 756 fleet. Reassigning 500-1000 pilots to customer service or ramp agents will not fix that

ALPA folded on this. Mandatory vaccines are a new thing. They are not contractual yet we gained nothing in return and placed no constraints on the company going forward. I'm not talking about the now defunct LOA, which gained a few bucks for some and kept the vax optional for others. This is a totally different game they're playing this time. The shot took folks out of flying for 48 hours and many had effects during that time period that would yeild a sick call. So what are the rules going forward? No pay for the mandatory shot? No work for a few days? Use your own sick time?
PS. I realize I'm a bit premature here. ALPA did say they're renegotiating with the company and that will take time. I'd imagine the company making such a promise would actually give them leverage. Hope they have our back on this.

You still have a choice. If the decision is to not get the vaccine, you will have to deal with the results of that decision.
To say ALPA needs to waste money tilting at windmills is outrageous. Waste of dues money IMHO.

The accommodations process has a very high threshold to cross, the burden of proof is on the employee, and they just don’t hand out exemptions left and right. If one actually does qualify for accommodation, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they will still be a front line employee like a pilot, they might be a home based reservations agent and paid accordingly. One thing to remember, those granting the accommodations are the same people pushing the vaccine. The mandate is after FDA approval, not emergency use. Good luck, you’re going to need it.

Correct, and to somehow keep unvaccinated pilots actively flying would be a failure of fair representation for those vaccinated. It would abrogate seniority to do so and that is failing to provide a duty of fair representation to the 91% that have been vaccinated.
No one currently has to get the jab, just realize as with many things in this life, poor decisions sometimes yield negative results….
