I admire your positivity, but if you have kids, it’s pretty hard to only have six days a month (that have to be grouped together) that you know you’ll be home

Yup I have kids so I get it. How often did people get rolled in during pre Covid times? I’m sticking to NB till all my kiddos are in big kid school

I’ve got 4 kids age 11 down to 5. In base WB reserve has been by far the most time I’ve spent with them in my life. It’s been great.

Realistically, how long will these quick upgrades last under current projections? Would someone hired sometime this year still be able to hold the left seat in one to two years? Currently a ULCC captain. I don’t give the slightest hoot about the fourth stripe. I would just want to get back to my current income ASAP if I were given the opportunity to make the switch.

TOGALOCK,

"Current aircraft order is over 500 new narrow body aircraft: 40 in 2022, 138 in 2023 and 350 in 2024"

That was taken directly from APC under the Legacy / UAL section. With those numbers of deliveries it should sustain for awhile (barring oil prices / economy snafus). Your results may vary and no one has a crystal ball.

The biggest driver of insta-upgrade seems to be a disdain for ewr/sfo reserve. Change in work rules could reestablish the natural order quickly

As much as I would like to see reserve rules change, it's a really a commuter problem. So with half (maybe, I have no idea) of the company not really feeling the same problems with reserve, I don't see them changing any time soon. But it certainly would change the dynamic entirely if they were to change.

Just saying that the upgrade party will stop if the company wants to make coastal junior life more desirable. They're not upgrading people at 1 year because of breakneck growth .... it's cause people who know the story don't want it.

I just don’t see what change in reserve rules will change that - commuter or not.
