I will be shocked to see china open up any time before 2025. Hope this post ages poorly.
Call me crazy but less than 2 decades to hold WB CA seems pretty short to me. For that majority of people being hired, thats 15-20 years in the left seat of a WB...

With the forecast attrition, it's likely to be faster.

Well “we” have been doing it for a long time. Remind me again who “you” work for?

“We”, generally speaking, meaning are there enough regional airplanes to fill up all the WBs and to travel internationally? I’m talking for any airline really. This is what I hear from people that the regionals are struggling for pilots. There are some airports that a NB can’t go to right?

There are plenty of airports served by RJ service that the runway could physically handle the plane, but there are other considerations. What maybe two, three or four RJs would be only one or two NBs a day. At some point the frequency makes it even less appealing for pax to choose that carrier.

There are also infrastructure issues. The terminal may not have ramp/jet bridge capability and then there is the issue of emergency services. You have to have a certain amount of emergency vehicles and personnel based on the size of the aircraft that come in. Most that only have RJ service now are not at a level that can support a NB.
