Default WB Reserve

A question for the group… For those reserves flying out of EWR, how often are you actually flown, placed on short call, or placed on FSB? The bid packs are no help and I haven’t run into any EWR WB reserves in the crew rooms. Thank so much.

Plan on two short calls a month, most flying gets gobbled up by guys that bid empty lines.

you seem junior to me so I’m gonna be honest. Living in base it’s a good gig. I bid SC when I need to drop to the bottom of the SILO. Rarely get used. Enjoying a lot of a family time.

I am junior. I have been with the company 2+ years but live in base. I get the impression WB reserve is reasonable, provided you live in base. Is that accurate?

Yes. It should take at least three strokes off your handicap.

As the month progresses, go to Crew Companion --> Options --> Operational. Change your BES and look at the reserve utilization. IT's easy to see how many unused SCs/FSBs are on an individuals Calendar. If you want to dig down a little more, note their file number and look at their CCS calendar and you can see if it was picked up or assigned. Obviously, that won't work if they have their calendar blocked.

The above method won't provide the whole picture, but it will help.

How is the 777/787 reserve out of DCA? I see the latest vacancy for it went unfilled. Are the lines and days off pretty good out of there? Thanks in advance!

DCA 787 FO reserve life isn’t a good gig right now. And I live in base.

Under the min by almost double digits every single day of the month, some days have had ZERO reserves available. No Short Call’s ever posted in advance. Every day off (except of course HDO’s) this month and last has been rolled on me so far.

On the plus side, I’ve only had one SC so far, and I’m sitting in LOS on an 85 hour layover right now, where we can’t leave the hotel. 😏Thankfully the entire crew is a lot of fun.

Thanks! What would a mid-level FO get for days off if he was a line-holder? I suppose once staffing gets fixed reserve there would be a better deal. I noticed the 777 DCA was only doing a couple flights. Those crews being put elsewhere like EWR to cover or just hanging out at home?
Seems like 320 DCA looks pretty good save the co-basing coverage.
