one should get 5 hours min pay for SC/FSB, just like any LH that has to work. Perhaps a lower amount if you are are on LC the entire day. there are already plenty of other negatives about being on reserve lesser pay for the same number of days worked shouldnt be one. A LH that works 18 days, even if some are just sitting in a hotel or deadheading still get 5 hrs min for the day, ie 90 hrs for 18 days.

the cost for FSB and short call needs to be raised significantly for the company - to the point that they will only use it if they truly have to.
the question is where that price point is. If it comes down to cancelling a global flight I suspect they won’t even blink to shell out 5-10 hours of override / premium pay.

Reserve rules truly need to be changed!

Sorry if this is somewhere in here, I've searched and couldn't find it. Couple questions:
1. How long is FSB and what is the pay for it.
2. How does global reserve work, and how many hard days off do you have? I hear people say its horrible... wondering how it works.
3. I'n last bid, how may CA slots went unfilled.
Thanks in advance.

Global reserves have the same 12 or 13 days off as the domestic fleets. The difference with global is that a block of 6 days is dubbed "holy" days off and cant be touched. Your other 6 or 7 days off you can be rolled into. If rolled they will put a new day off somewhere else on your schedule. You will still have the same number of days off, you just won't know when they are. That's the rub with global. Not good for those who need more schedule certainty.
I count 167 unfilled captain positions, between 737 320 and 75/76 (only 1 unfilled here).

FSB is 4 hours. There is no extra pay until your 3rd UNUSED conversion. So if you are converted 3 times and assigned a trip all 3 times you get exactly 0 extra pay.

RE: Global Reserve - If I get awarded 777/787 in initial training, is it correct that Global Reserve is an automatic 2 year commitment? What happens if I initially get awarded narrowbody, then after a few months, or once off probation, decide to bid widebody - would global reserve in that scenario also be an automatic 2 year commitment?
It’s all based on your seniority and the placement of the g-line (cut line between those guaranteed a line and reserves). With EWR 777 FO being the outlier, the junior lineholder as WB FO DOH ranges from 4-20 years depending on the domicile. DOH isn’t a perfect measure, just FYI. Reserve itself is not a commitment.
