Solid point

Usually someone on FSB actually wants to fly. It seems odd to have a perfectly good FSB sitting there while a non-global flight is delayed 2+ hours waiting for another reserve to show up.

Since an FSB is not replaced once one is used, it’s not like using an FSB on a non-global trip would cause more FSB’s that day. If scheduling wants to use an available FSB on a non-global trip, go ahead and use them. I think most people would rather fly once on FSB rather than just sit there.

most would rather not be on FSB to begin with. I can also say with absolute certainty that not one single time I’ve been on FSB….did I want to fly. Invariably, you are inheriting a complete goat-rope, to some min-rest layover.

Your posts certainly have a theme. You’re a real (management) pilots’ pilot, aren’t you?

Uh, no. Short-calls get converted to FSB quite regularly. Then, guess what? Now your SC becomes an “assignment”, and you don’t even get credit for an unused SC. Double bonus!

FSB needs to go.

I can see the argument that it is necessary for some select few global flights that push duty limits. Maybe there could be an exception for a clearly defined number of FSB for precisely those select global flights. Same number - same time - every day. So it is predictable. But none should be required for any NB global flights.

THIS is a great idea. Specific flights get their own FSB guy. Shows up for the flight, hangs out, doesn’t get used, goes back home or to the crash pad. Gets 2 hours of ADD pay for his trouble.

I think that’s a good idea!!! There needs to be something punitive for the Company to assign FSBs or SCs.

SC is kinda just part of the deal….but there needs to be a limit. For example, only one SC per work block. If you get another, 2 hours of ADD PAY. If you get USED on that SC, the ADD pay still stands.

That would take a bit of the sting out of being in traffic for 6 hours.

This^^^^^^^^^^
Just in the past month I have twice been assigned a SC and 5 hours into it a call from CS releasing me and assigning me another SC for the same time, the very next day.
